what do you guys think of the face sculpt on this one?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 298 - Avengers: AoU - Scarlet Witch Figure (full pics/specs)

MCU movies are indeed comic book as it self. they made the movies as a comic rather than adapting it.

as for FOX and Marvel rights. as long as Marvel didnt use the word mutant and didnt mention magneto as the maximoff father than they free to use the character.
same goes to FOX,they cant make any reference to the Avengers.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 298 - Avengers: AoU - Scarlet Witch Figure (full pics/specs)

Well no. Not really. If filmmakers are on board with the on goings of the universe then they're fine. As far as I know, everyone but Alan Taylor and most recently, Joss Whedon has been on board with the overall MCU plan. It's literally JUST like making the comic books. Everyone has gotta communicate with each other and make sure that everyone knows what's going on in the universe and write their stories around it while still telling their own great stories. They're just on board with it. And I believe they're using the same template with their films and so far, I think it's been really damn magnificent. Hell, that's one of the reasons why I love and read comics. One thing always affects another in some sort of way while still telling their own amazing story.

I love the universe aspect too but you still need to allow the stories themselves to work independently and fulfill the creator's vision. Jim Starlin pretty much had carte blanche on all his works for Marvel and they ended up being seminal issues in the Marvel lore.

The issues they've had with Leterrier, Favreau, Jenkins, Taylor, Wright and Whedon imply they're alienating the directors. Gunn also experienced some problems with them over the use of Thanos, which he never wanted in GOTG.

I love the MCU but if they keep treating directors like this people won't be quitting before production (Wright, Jenkins) but rather during. That's how you get box office bombs. You need the director's vision which was greenlit months prior to be allowed to come thru.

I like this figure a lot and she may be my favorite from the Age of Ultron line but the price seems a bit high.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 298 - Avengers: AoU - Scarlet Witch Figure (full pics/specs)

I'm surprised the heart isn't exclusive. I think I'm going to wait for this to become coupon eligible before ordering it.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 298 - Avengers: AoU - Scarlet Witch Figure (full pics/specs)

Yeah it came as a shock to me, mainly because I was expected an EX and $220 tag.
- Make no mistakes I will be buying her, simply from a UK store instead as no point taking that import hit on a non-EX piece.

You think she'll still be around in September?

I feel like this might be the one that sells out, man.

Is the exclusive gonna be her
dead brother? Too soon?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 298 - Avengers: AoU - Scarlet Witch Figure (full pics/specs)

Universe or not, its all driven by money. TDK and TDKR made as much money as the Avengers films did without 3D.

You're off by 500 million dollars. And probably by a billion by the time Avengers 2 finishes its run.

Well to be fair, the Maximoff name wasn't from Erik. It was from their biological parents in the first place, Django and Marya Maximoff. Erik wasn't even saying he was their dad until a decade or so later and has been that way till this year. It's now it's back to Django and Marya being their biological parents.

I thought it was recently said that Mags isn't their biological dad

Also, let's not cry for Whedon. He knew what he was getting into with Marvel. He understood he wasn't making an independent film. But he wanted the big paycheck and the exposure that directing the Avengers would give him. Marvel has made him a rich man and now he has clout in Hollywood he didn't have before.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS 298 - Avengers: AoU - Scarlet Witch Figure (full pics/specs)

Price is 10 bucks more than I thought it would have come out to. Glad I have no interest.

I think I'm doing the same. I honestly was expecting her to be more like $220 tops given that aside from the special hands she comes with her only other accessories are the Ultron heart and the base (which is debatable to call an accessory). Realistically there's no reason she should be more than Widow who comes with a lot of accessories. Regardless though I really like the figure a lot and do want it in my collection.

The Dark Knight = $1 Billion, no 3D
The Avengers = $1.5 Billion, 3D
The Dark Knight Rises = $1 Billion, no 3D
Avengers Age of Ultron = $1.4 Billion so far, 3D

3D is 20% more profit from each ticket. Do the math.

Looks good for what it is. Unfortunately, this is a lot less interesting than her looks in the comic. No interest from me here.
