The only exclusive thus far for the Age of Ultron line was for the Mark XLIII. I'm actually sort of glad they seemingly aren't doing as many exclusives now that Sideshow has implemented their NRD policy for more figures.

Hot Toys: Hm, not many people bought the AOU Scarlet Witch. Let's not bother making a Civil War version. MOAR IRON MAN!!!

It'll be interesting to see how many figures they make for Civil War as is. I'm not sure it'll get the Avengers treatment where they make a dozen figures for it. A lot of the characters only have cameos, as this is -- at the heart -- a Captain America film. It's hard enough to fit in separate character archs for everyone in an Avengers movie that's supposed to focus on them all...I think there'll be a few key players and the rest will be there to show the uniting of the universe as a whole.

That said, if they do another Scarlet Witch, it'll likely be along the lines of Cap and Black Widow for this film, which is a repaint with a new outfit. Nothing wrong with that, as the Cap repaint was a huge improvement over an already solid sculpt! But I still wouldn't be shocked if they don't do another Scarlet Witch until Infinity Wars. It's not like Winter Soldier got more than a few figures released for it, and Hot Toys will have a stacked card by the time Civil War comes out.

The definite ones are Cap and Iron Man, and I'd say the most likely ones to follow them will be an updated Falcon, Crossbones, Black Panther (who is said to have a rather large role in the movie) and maybe even another Black Widow, as she and Cap are best buds! Could even have another Winter Soldier! I'd say it'll depend on the size of the role Wanda has, or if they just want to go the repaint route to throw another version of her out there.

I feel like the releases that SSC/HT is putting NRDs on are ones that HT doesn't have as much confidence in and wants to limit production towards. HT wants to gauge interest in the figure before committing to a certain edition size and NRDs help ensure only the serious collectors will buy. I don't think SSC gets or requests EXs unless the production run is higher.

Don't know why this is $230 though. Figure is lacking in content when compared to IV Luke which is the same price.

Thankfully I generally only want one version of each character. I made exceptions for iron Man (I have two Iron Man armors and won't buy any more) --and Cap (I bought the Winter Soldier version and I have AOU pre-ordered.) Other than them though, I only need one each of Thor, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow, Winter Soldier, etc. For Civil War what I'm most interested in seeing is a Crossbones figure. But I won't need another Cap or Iron Man or Scarlet Witch. I may pick up a Falcon if HT improves the head sculpt and convinces me that the wings won't fall apart.

I'm sure partially because it's a figure from a Marvel film. Hot Toys seems to cash in on those figures as much as they can and I'm sure they know a lot of people will collect most or all of the Age of Ultron figures. I agree though as much as I like this figure it shouldn't be $230. Like I mentioned it shouldn't be more than Widow.

It makes it sound special and people want special things! It's like it's singing to you..."I've got a bonus item!"

It's not vital or anything, but it makes it seem like they're giving you something extra...even though it probably would've been there anyway.

well asian market plays a huge role too. and as we already know iron man really huge there. event the gotg line is not doing so well over there.
well i'm from malaysia. and while the main HT distributor has everything on PO. selected shops only have selected figures put up (sometimes upon request) but iron man figure is a definite.

I won't delve into it too much, as some seem to not like it! But I read an interview Robert Downey Jr. gave, and he said the Russo brothers approached him for the film, and said they had this idea they could do if he was on board. If not, they could go another direction. They pitched him the idea, and he said he was in, and Civil War was born.

RDJ was asked if he was the villain of the film, and what that'd be like and all, and he said:

"I wouldn’t put it that way. Ultimately it’s Steve’s story; it doesn’t say ‘Iron Man 4: Civil War’. I think that’s great too. I think Chris [Evans] has been hungry to bring even more of an underside and some shadow to that. I remember the comics - on the surface you got the sense that Cap was baseball and apple pie, but underneath there was all this churning stuff of being a man out of time. Now we know he’s made his peace with that. What’s the bigger issue? It can have a little something to do with the past, but it can be about someone becoming more modernised in their own conflict."

So while it'll have a lot of people involved, it'll be Steve's story as a whole, and I think that's what helped convince RDJ as well!

I have faith in the Russos to handle the movie. I've been told by someone who was an extra that this is very much a Steve Rogers movie. Don't be fooled by all the names.

I believe you are correct on this--Marvel licenses do carry a premium. I also believe they are going after the completionists and hoping/assuming they will pay the price.

Good point. HT is Asia-centric after all. They probably already (think) they know what will sell [IronMan] in that market, and will make a s*** ton of it, and the rest, they want to cover for everyone, but aren't as sure about because the Asian market will just go "meh".

yeah i have faith in the Russos too. the only reason those sites/blogs called this avenger 2.5 is just because the amount of characters in it. well is it any fanboy/girl dream to see your fav character teaming up on screen?

and that is why it is still title as Captain America : Civil War. they could simply change it to Avengers : Civil War if they wanted to.
