The only thing that worked in the Ultimate universe imo, was Spidey. I mean, you have Tony, Clint, and Steve who are absolute dicks, a cannibalistic, rapist Hulk, environmentalist Thor, female Vision, an even more abusive Hank. And do not get me started on Ultimatum. XD The thing I don't like about Mark Millar is that he always has to shove in shock value into everything he writes sans Civil War and Red Son.

I remember being excited for Ultimatum since it was the first real Ultimate universe event I would ever read many years ago but that was also the point where Ultimate Spidey was taking a dip with their take on the Clone Saga which is still better than the 616 Clone Saga. It's the stuff that they did to Carnage and Doc Ock that was stupid as hell. But my god...Ultimatum...that was just an excuse to kill a **** ton of characters in the most gruesome and ridiculous ways. I couldn't put it down cause I wanted to see how much more ridiculous it could get. and of course, the best written material about it was all the stuff with Spider-Man.

I love Bendis. People don't seem to like him since he's supposedly too wordy but I absolutely LOVE his dialogue and honestly really knows how to write most characters in the Marvel Universe. He also seems to write teens very very well, which is why I thought Ultimate Spider-Man was so well done. And even his All-New X-Men run is pretty damn fantastic. Though I do admit his only misfire is Age of Ultron was was alright at best. It wasn't a disaster like everyone thought it was but I thought it was a cool semi what-if storyline. Though it did bring Angela into the 616 Universe and Galactus into the Ultimate U.

Oh man, have you read all of Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers? cause all that is basically the lead into Secret Wars. I feel like it's a necessity to read it prior to the event. It basically sets it up the whole thing right up to the Ultimate U and 616 verses literally about to collide. I know it's a lot to read but god damn it's so worth it. Hickman is literally like the Christopher Nolan of Marvel except Hickman will ALWAYS blow your mind. XD

Dude, his Fantastic Four run is amazing as well. This dude hands down writes Fantastic Four the best imo, especially Doom. And you can see how much he loves these characters in New Avengers and Secret Wars. That's to bad FF got canned then. I know general interest in them have declined but it's a shame Hickman didn't get recognized. I mean I didn't know he had a run of FF.

And I actually had it in my hands but I had to go back to work I'll read it sometime soon

I really wanted this to be the costume for Quivksilver in the movies, but now we'll never know what his official avengers costume would have been :/

I loved most of the ultimate universe it got me reading comics, that Sid there is some serious crap there too. After ultimatum it all fell apart, except spidey, Bendis kept true and delveried a great book for over ten years.

Also agree that Hickmans Avengers run has been incredible, breath of fresh air after years of Bendis. Hickmans Secret Warriors run is also one of my favourite Marvel titles, would love a movie for that.
