Yeah, those middle-aged Star Wars fans who have been on this Forum for a long time... What do they know?

To be fair, since the EU has been eliminated, they know about about as much as anyone who has spent two weeks to catch up to what's currently official

I imagine that really sucks for people who have invested a lot of time into the EU. To have so much knowledge wiped away of what was supposed to be canon must sting.

Most of the EU was not very good in my opinion, although I loved pretty much everything Timothy Zahn wrote. But, I was under the impression that George Lucas never considered anything in the EU canon, or at least he wouldn't hold himself to it.

Bought into the hype, literally, after watching the movie and preordered this dude. First "high end" figure (or any figure) I've purchased since my preteens, so I'm fairly new to all this. Decided it's something I might try and get into so I thought I'd pick up/pre-order a few now and then be a bit more sensible down the line. How quickly do these usually sell out? Is it usually safe to purchase them relatively shortly after they release without missing out, or is a pre-order the only safe way to assure a purchase?

I had put aside a budget to make two more purchases, spent the last few days trying to be selective and narrowing down the pieces I thought would be essential. Had it narrowed down to Rey and Bobba Fett.. Or Vadar... With the hope of picking up Finn at some point too... Then made an impulse buy on the Elder Predator.. I don't know what I've got myself into. I'm pretty set on picking up Rey but I'd hate to miss Fett if it sold out pretty much on release.
Hey Kvothe, welcome to the forum. You are safe nowadays waiting until release as very few figures sell out before then (and those would be Sideshow or convention exclusives -- can't recall a single 'regular' version selling out before release in the four years I've been picking-up stuff). If it's an Exclusive anything that you want, I'd jump on it, though. Most still don't sell out very fast (e.g., Spacetrooper con exclusive is still available long after release) but it's unpredictable, so if it's something coveted, best to have it secured.

My only advice is to stick with your budget, be as discerning as you can (avoid impulse buys) and be mindful of how much space you have to display them. I've yet to even set-up my display space and already know I have too many figures, so will be doing a cull here, shortly. Avoid the hassle of buying only to have to sell later by knowing your money/space limits.

Think he was referring to forum norms rather than EU 'knowledge'. *snickers* I recall reading the exchange the other poster is referring to, and it was quite amusing and not trolling at all. Some of the guys here just need to pick up a sense of humour and thicker skin instead of lashing out immediately.

Couldn't hold back. I PO'd this and the Rey BB-8 combo pack last night. I now will have to get the Finn Storm Trooper combo:gah:

Same! The price for the Finn combo was just too good. With Phasma too, I currently have 5.5 TFA figs on order. (BB-8 is so little haha)

What do you guys think will come next? Poe? Han? Hux? Luke? Doesn't really matter which one is next. I'm in for all 4 when announced. :)

Poe seems the most likely candidate. But with Hot Toys, who knows! Is there a Stormtrooper variant to be released still? ;) Seriously, though, my money is on Poe. Not much money, though, mind you.

I'm crossing my fingers for Poe. And then a v2 Kylo, followed by Hux. :)

Honestly, besides Rey and BB-8 the only ones I really want from this movie are Luke and Kylo with Driver portrait and Vader hemlet relic.

Haha I agree. It's prob Poe. I hope it's in his flight suit with the facial injuries on the sculpt! But Han can't be too far behind. He was surprisingly integral to the entire plot of the movie. I was shocked how much I liked him in TFA. I couldn't, and still can't, stand him in ROTJ. "It's me."

He was brilliant and him having a son and the moment, gave him a new dimension. It was really well done. He was also really funny. The banter with him and Finn was perfect haha. Wiped the ROTJ feeling away honestly.

That is kind of funny (sadly, it apply to a lot of people).

I'm still reading some of the now "Legends" material that was on my reading list forever, not being canon anymore don't change what I like from what I dislike.

In a discussion about clones, on a Facebook group, I suggested a book that was not canon anymore and a lot of people said things like: "what's the point ?"

Its funny how people think that some Star Wars knowledge is worth and some isn't. In the end, most of anyone's knowledge is objectivity worthless, since we don't apply it directly to anything (I say objectively, cause I do believe that all knowledge is subjectivity important since it develops our thinking process and increases our rational versatility).

Ooh, yeah! That would be awesome.

I actually might purchase an old Han Solo. Be cool to pose him with an unmasked Kylo...

Man, I wasn't planning on buying a ton of figures from the new film, but after actually seeing it, I want everything. :rotfl Ugh. I need to start buying lotto tickets.

I feel the same. I want everything except for trooper variants. Though I would suggest buying ramen instead. You can't eat losing lottery tickets. ;)

I'm nervous about the troopers. Don't they all have rubber undersuits? That's an instant deal-breaker for me, with Hot Toys' history.

For me the old EU stuff was just so daunting as an outsider with casual interest in Star Wars mostly from family nostalgia and KOTOR video game.

Since seeing TFA and embracing my inner Star Wars fanboy I've now read a couple of the new canon novels and had a blast with it. Look forward to more.
