I'm nervous about the troopers. Don't they all have rubber undersuits? That's an instant deal-breaker for me, with Hot Toys' history.

I think they do, but I'm not planning on any crazy poses so it's ok for me. Going with the riot trooper for my one trooper.

For me the old EU stuff was just so daunting as an outsider with casual interest in Star Wars mostly from family nostalgia and KOTOR video game.

Since seeing TFA and embracing my inner Star Wars fanboy I've now read a couple of the new canon novels and had a blast with it. Look forward to more.

I have yet to read the new books, but they do seem interesting and are on my reading list. I'm reading the new marvel comics and really enjoying them.

The old EU was too big and full of incoherence, I liked most of what I read, but I always avoided everything that seemed bad (from my perspective), never tried to read something cause it was "important" or whatever.

As much as I dislike some things not being canon anymore (not due to some misguided idea of importance, but because there is no chance of following some cool storylines), I do believe it was a good move to reboot the EU.

I watched my friend's Hellboy die a slow, painful death even in his museum pose, so I confess I'm wary to spend that kinda dough on a trooper.

I wasn't a fan of much in the EU but I did like the Legacy of the Force series. Pretty much what TFA is drawing off of in terms of a bad guy. Jacen Solo, trained by Luke, goes dark and wants to control the galaxy after being seduced by an old dark side user with ulterior motives.

The series also had Boba Fett and the Mandaloreans kicking ass and taking names so it couldn't have been that bad.

The audio books are fantastic. Like listening to a movie with sound effects, voice changes, and music. Very entertaining series. I'd recommend it for anyone who loves Star Wars.

As for the deteriorating rubber suits.. I still haven't had a problem with the original dark knight batman.. I know it's not that long of a time frame, but everything seems pretty decent.

Plus, I can always make my own under suit if it comes to that.

Hot toys should release some kind oil or something that'll improve the longevity of the articulation points on the suit.

Did you get it for a "good price" on eBay? Perhaps that's why it turned out to be a scam. All of the listings that I've seen have all been in HK and are well over $300.
