Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars Ep.VII - First Order Stormtrooper (Jakku Ex.)

Ordered, this will be the only Stormtrooper I get from the movie. Seems to be a mixture of everything I like about em

Don't forget about Black Pauldron Stormie and Elite Tie Pilot

Definitely in for Elite Tie Pilot. I'll pass on Riot Control and maybe just pick up loose parts to add to my regular Stormie. As far as the rest of the pauldrons, I'm content with my squad leader and officer....I think.

Wait for the eventual BD Stormtrooper

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars Ep.VII - First Order Stormtrooper (Jakku Ex.)

This figure looks pretty cool! The only Star Wars piece I have is the Vader PF on pre-order, thinking about starting a SW HT collection. Something I noticed, and this is random, but how in the world would he be able to see in the binoculars through that helmet?

While it's easy to dismiss this as a cynical cash grab (and it might be), it's also nice to see the Stormtrooper figure packed in with basically almost every alternate accessory offered. So if you want the rifle with stock, backpack, binoculars, etc. without having to buy the Snowtroopers or Officer figures, it's actually a great figure.

That said, I'm in for an army so ordered, naturally.

Haha what's even worse is why would you even need binoculars? These are advanced people, you'd think they'd have technology built into the helmet to be able to zoom in and out, night vision, heat vision etc.

Advanced? They are still using infantry. We are dumb and already using a drones :)

They have morals and outlawed battle droids after the clone wars.

Yup has a nice mix of options, I am wondering how easy it is to take the vest on and off him as if there is no risk of damage he could be the ideal "one Stormtrooper to get if you only want one Stormtrooper"

Definitely in for Elite Tie Pilot. I'll pass on Riot Control and maybe just pick up loose parts to add to my regular Stormie. As far as the rest of the pauldrons, I'm content with my squad leader and officer....I think.

Thats what I am thinking too, though I may wait to see what they throw in with the Riot Control one as they may be random and throw in a blaster pistol (despite him not appearing to have one in the film) meaning I would just need a blaster rifle which should be cheaper and easier to find than the Riot parts... though not expecting it, so either way it will be a set of accessories and I imagine a different set of hands.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Star Wars Ep.VII - First Order Stormtrooper (Jakku Ex.)

The only shots with him wearing the backpack are the in-store images. The promo images don't show any angles where the pack is visible He's not even wearing it in the final montage shot.

It must attach via magnet but the ammo vest straps criss-cross in back. Makes me wonder if it's able to sit flush against the armor or if it's one of those "don't touch it or it'll fall off" kind of setups.

Reminds me of the old days with Hot Toys...

So your saying in Star Wars it's moral to kill people and immoral to use robots/droids in war? I'm glad this is in a galaxy far far away. :lol

The Star Wars universe is notable for being quite violent and casual about it, but I thought the prejudice against droids/sentient A.I. was fear and loathing of artificial life due to a combination of mistrust, hubris and a lingering fear of murderous robots dating back to the Clone Wars.

The droid armies as depicted in the PT were generally ludicrous, but for a more realistic analogy think of the Terminator films.

Besides the Skynet reference, there is precedent for this idea in Frank Herbert's 'Dune' novels, which were also an influence of Lucas'.

It's a blink and you'll miss it moment, but I just wanted to confirm this Jakku spec Stormtrooper with harness and backpack are in the film. I missed it the first time last night, but caught it on second viewing this morning.

He is one of the two Stormtroopers that appear at the Jakku outpost. Rey, Finn, and BB-8 look over to see someone pointing them out to the troopers. The backpack is only visible for a split second but it's there. They have a brief shootout and call in the airstrike that leads to the Falcon escape segment.
