Also, how in the hell did you notice that? I can barely tell she's in the shot! Anyhoo, if you're after a decent poncho for Rey, The Boss is a good option if you can find it parted from the figure.

Haha, I saw the box and porg and just took a guess. That is actually a really nice poncho, almost looks like a darker version of the one Hasbro included with the 6” Black Series. I was tempted to get one after TLJ but I’ve since decided on the pose from the end of TFA since it looks good with little to no chance of damaging the costume.

Is there any way of reducing the height of this figure? The foot pegs don't seem removable but if anyone knows different I'd be grateful to hear it.

Hi everyone, first post here. I just got TLJ Rey and am wondering if anyone else has run into this. When I put the motion-effect blade into her light-up lightsaber hilt, the figure has difficulty holding it upright since its heavy. The wrist slides until the blade is facing downwards. I couldn't find any way to adjust or tighten the wrist. This is not an issue with the regular lightsaber blade.

Also, the wrapping on the light-up arm is coming a bit undone. Is there a way to fix it? It's only been out of the box for a day and I've barely handled it.

Hi there!

The blade is too heavy for the lightup saber. Known issue. Maybe a double-handed hold is required.

And my armwrap does the same thing. I repositioned the pieces of material with some regular stick glue (not sure of its actual English name)... but it is very easy to pull.

I guess these are limitations of the figure.

So I finally received this figure this evening. Everyone has been saying the sculpt is better in hand than in pics, but I gotta say that to me, it looks exactly in hand as it does in pics, which I was never really crazy about. It’s still a decent sculpt, but I maintain my stance that I think TFA sculpt edges it out in likeness after now having seen both in hand. Figure wise, I think this is a funner figure because of all the various action poses you could put her in just based on the Reylo vs. Praetorian Guards scene alone. Though if I were to just have one Rey figure, I’d go with either TFA or RO. Better sculpt, and you still have a wide array of poses to cull from. Not to mention I like TFA better than TLJ. I’m also convinced now that the thin plastic wrapping they put around figures’ necks is meant to prevent dye transfer, because this one extended all the way down her torso and was the shape of a vest. Though like my other figures that have a visible neck, I took the wrapping off because it otherwise makes it look like they’re a priest.

Barring an Episode IX Rey boasting a sculpt that is spot on in likeness, I think this will be my last Rey. Or I’ll just get that sculpt and put it on this figure if the hairstyles are basically the same.

Ha, nice review. I’ve still never gotten the “It’s so much better in hand” vibe from any figure.

Obviously some photos are crap and if that’s all you had to go on then of course in hand would be a lot better but we usually see an array of in-hand shots before a figure arrives to figure.

Still trying to get the sculpt to try on the TFA figure (w/ head gear). Think it would look good, especially if they ever released her speeder.

Hopefully they go for a more neutral/soft expression for Ep. IX.

We'll all be looking at that.

Good review, SS. The only additional Rey figure I would go for is a re-issue of the so-called "resistance" version with a new sculpt, the poncho, the broken saber and more hands.

Thanks. The tailoring on it is also pretty good. Though again, I think it’s maybe slightly better on TFA Rey, and better on RO.

Yeah, I concur regarding the whole “in hand” thing. However, there are some instances where for me, the sculpt does genuinely look better in hand than I’ve seen in most pictures; RotJ Luke, for instance. Not sure why that is with some figures, whereas others, what you see in others’ in hand pictures is what you’re going to get. Like this one.

If they did a reissue RO, I’d maybe just get the sculpt if it had a different expression, to differentiate it from TFA one. The pose I have mine RO in is her handing the saber to TFA Luke, and I plan on keeping her that way.

Mostly because if I change her, that doesn’t leave much else for TFA Luke to do. :lol

Yeah I would agree this doesn't really look any different in hand than it appeared in pics, and the likeness is still a bit off. But I have come to prefer the more determined expression on it, and for some reason the action poses in this outfit just seem to look a lot cooler than anything I've tried with the others.

Just opened up my Rey as well. Personally I found the headsculpt to be off as while it is indeed nice to have a fierce expression for this figure, the eyes, lips and face shape of her seems to be a more idealized version of Rey and it does not look like Daisy Ridley.

The fierce expression fits this figure, but for an overall Rey sculpt, I think I prefer one with the teeth showing a bit, like the TFA sculpt, being that she kind of has a RotJ Luke expression going on most of the time.

Agree with everything you said, and good to know it’s the same in hand. (I couldn’t imagine it being any different)

Ironically however, your pic is the best one I’ve seen of her for some reason I can’t pinpoint :lol

It’s the only one that looks almost like her and doesn’t make her brows/forehead look weird like in the rest.

It is indeed the forehead that throws it off a little. It protrudes too much for a female forehead. Anyone with basic artistic anatomy knowledge would pick that detail when seen from profile.

...I'm surprised the sculptor didn't.

Thanks. :duff

I like to think I take crappy photos. I don’t put any effort in them, they’re more just meant to show what a figure literally looks like right in front of you in hand. I just point my phone at it and snap. :lol
