Unfortunately, the cirucmstances are optimal for them too. No one who's really interested in the extras and such is going to pass on it because if they don't buy it retail asap, it only becomes harder and pricier. If people could say FU Hot Toys and not buy these follow up releases and get the point to them that we won't take it, might make things change, but that'll never happen so this is how it's going to be. I think I'll just prepare myself now to drop $300 for the full Predator 1 package because I'm sure this will happen with that one as well and since there was no other "mode" for him like cleaner, he will be a BD which means nasty blood paint on him but it'll have the roaring head which is clutch, so I'll be buying both in that scenario.

remember folks, HOT TOYS never do this before. they ve been doing this since P2.

they didnt do this in AVP SERIES. i think this is because this series is pretty much close to DEMISE. what else they gonna release after P1?? none.

that is probably the reason why they wanna milk the money out of collectors as much as they can while this damn series last.

just my 2 cents.

Well the point's been made and raised that with AVP, they could generally reuse parts from each Predator so we didn't see variants because the movie featured several Predators already.

As far as the closure of the license being reason to do this, I don't think so. This isn't the sole income for HT, and their ever growing quality will continue to bring licenses their way. Yes I think the flow of source material for the Predator franchise is slowing once P1 is covered and maybe a human or two from Predator 2, but I don't think HT's like "^^^^, when that's over we won't make any more money."

I think it's pretty safe to assume there will be two P1 releases, though what they'll do for the encore is a little hard to imagine. P1 really didn't have a lot of extra goodies like P2 and Wolfie had. Maybe, just maybe... they'll cut us a break and make an all-inclusive version of P1, but I seriously doubt it based on this current trend... :monkey4

Thats why HT better put some time & money into the sculpt for P1.
I'm an addict but if it looks anything close to the 1/4 scale bust, no way I'm getting it.

I'll wait the sideshow annonce to see if they'll make an exclusive edition (another BD mask like in the movie), if not gogo ABC !

And certainly get armor with the 2 canon (I like them) and the whip separate, yes ... HT predator are great after all and I'm weak :D.

I could see P1 Regular, mask, closed mandible head, non-functioning med kit, and trophy skulls, and then the second version having swappable mandibles, functioning med kit and, if it's BD, blood paint, and Billy's skull and spine, which would just be a reissue of the P2 accessory because you can't tell a difference.

Most likely it would be just like you said, but it's still a little thin considering the lack of P1's basic weapons. I know I'll be getting at least one in any case, maybe both if the variant is really special enough. We'll see...

Totatlly with you, would really be thin, but putting myself in HT's seat, if they really are just out to score bucks with extra releases, that's the way to slice it. I forgot to add a cool base in there as well, seems when they struggle for extras, they throw in bases or Alien skulls.

Since my plan is to customize and make each predator different, I love the extra releases. Puts more on the market to keep the prices down. This is an arctic one I made and am re-working a bit now.

I'm all for second releases for customizers and people to get their hands on one, since these don't have an edition size and I've never seen anywhere say it's really that limited, but there should be one all encompassing release and say a second production run of it after the first ships to hit people that missed wave one or wish to get multiples and held off on the first wave.

Absolutely. It's going to be very interesting to see what they come up with to fluff it out. A special base of some kind is almost a given. :lol

The P1 bust is concerning regarding how it could foreshadow a 1/6 figure, but I'm hoping I'm right in that they went with the bust first to test the waters and see reaction. Hopefully, they read message boards and take not if it doesn't sell well. I'm hoping the quality and $75 price tag make it unenticing enough that HT takes the hint. Some simple mods to the P2 Elder and you'll have a perfect P1 Pred head, hopefully they go by that and not the bust.

I do not think this can be justified at all.
All hot toys had to do was make an all inclusive Wolf, and maybe re-issue it if the demand was great enough to warrant it. (which it is)

IMO, this is a blatant attempt at robbing collectors of their hard earned money. Why make a product and release a superior one only a few months later? I'm sure everyone here would be willing to wait an additional month or so if it meant getting a Wolf that had everything.

I will not bite. The line must be drawn somewhere.
My point being... what if they re-release another version 2 months from now?
One where those little laser things on Wolf's bandoleer are removable, with ball jointed plasma-casters, and separate pieces of armor for his forearms, etc.... would you guys think that it is good business practice?

Part of being a good/great company is treating your clients with respect.
THIS; IMO, is disrespectful to those who jumped on the pre-order train early-on and/or got the 1st version of Wolf.

If H.T. plans to continue these practices, they should at least give "us" a heads up so that we have the option to choose which version we'd like best.

[this is a monopoly and totally not fair]:monkey4

The re-issue folk don't get the whip. Is it a way to milk more money? Sure it is. If you think they'll give you a heads up think again. They'll sell out both versions. I missed out on the first version but I'm not upset that the second doesn't have the whip. They make 5 versions I'll buy all 5 and thank them for the extras.
