Who buys all of that and sets it all up, to see the back of a chair and Batman's ears poking over the top? The chair is pointless.

As for dioramas scenes, even standing next to them, Batmobile, Armory, the specific Batcomputer, every version has it's own unique take, and are a great Iconic way to invoke the Batcave.

Yeah, I didn't think that through at the time. 'Pointless' was too strong, but I'd never put a figure in the chair facing the monitors. I'd stand him next to it like you say.

It's an upgrade for sure. The differences aren't night and day to me, but it's an improvement. I was stubborn at first and didn't want to accept reissue but I'm sold now and have pre ordered it

I was going through old HT posts and saw this. I know people have said Nicholson was difficult with likeness rights, but I'm surprised HT mentioned it (3 times!). I'm even more convinced now that the DX08 was a one off.

I’m actually surprised Jack is so stingy about it since I think his contract with the movie is he gets a sizable cut of merchandising rights in perpetuity. He made more money off the merch rights than he ever did being paid for a movie role.

Looks great, but it's pretty much the same figure. Looks like they may have updated the cape. We'll see how the production cape comes out. I do like the new face plate. Hopefully they sit slightly deeper than the original. The face plates sit slightly higher on it's right side and had to be shaved down on the back. I'll pick up the new plate if it's compatible with the old one. I do quite like the diorama stand. Depending on the cost I may pick one up from Toy Anxiety. If one day they decide to re-release the Returns figure I'll pick that one up. I couldn't pick one up at the time.

It was actually a two off. Don’t forget, they did the DX14 Mime version three years later.

They also mentioned how they planned to do a Mob Version in Milk Magazine.

I think what happened was, they got sidetracked with Marvel/Avengers in 2012 as well as other licenses and all of their plans got sidelined or scrapped.

Now it’s 2023 and I’m sure they squandered their license rights away.

It’s not just Nicholson either. Notice how quiet they are when it comes to Ledger Joker too. It used to be, for every Batman release you’d have at least one or two Joker figures to accompany it. Not anymore.

The entire head is new so unfortunately the face plates between the old and new figure very likely won't be compatible.

I've looked for ages trying to find howard talking about how expensive jack was but I've not been able to find it. Do you know where hes said that?

Yep. Happiest I've been about a long-time 'want' in many years.

They teased Carrey Riddler too, and mentioned Two-Face. So I have real hope that they are trying to do Penguin and Catwoman too. Even at 3rd party prices, that's near a grand for the 4 figures... they'd be crazy not to chase that money.

^ Same. I feel like the outdated pers on the dx09 is worth upgrading with this. I can transfer my drape cape to this new one. Hopefully the body is more poseable on this new one.

I just pre-ordered the deluxe. If anything, I can pair the dx09 Batman with the bat computer when it comes out. I figured if my wife can spend thousands on stupid purses, I can spend a few hundred on Batman figures.

So, Hot Toys / Sideshow just did a weird thing. The specs/pics just got updated.

On the 14th the back view of the figure had the PERS panel on the back of the head along with the old trash bag cape.

Today I was looking and the photo solicitation pics completely changed. Now the back of the head is the all new cowl and the new cape. No more panel.

Pretty strange right?
