i always tell my gf my figures are old ones hahaha

sometimes she believes me....

others...

TDKR hot toys are the first Hot toys figures I'm investing in and my girlfriend and I have been dating for over a year and a half so she knows what I collect. Right now she's not complaining, she even pre ordered joker 2.0 for my xmas present.

Needy to be sneaky if I want to stay in it.

To bad he won't be here in time to be a Christmas present :monkey2

Probably not even a birthday present for me at the end on january

Theres perks to being single, indeed. But I dont know if those perks trump the perks of having a wife. :lecture :p

Yup. I may not tell my wife exactly the number of figures on PO and I may exaggerate a bit about how long I had it on PO but for the most part she's cool with it. Even finds them a little cool. She said " I rather you buy toys and on your nerd forum than out getting drunk or somewhere I don't know about. Things could be worse." Oh and people calling them dolls or toys etc doesn't bother me in the least. Actually, when I have people over they kinda dig them. :)

Yeah I told her, she doesn't follow the forums to know, but when I told her she said she'll print out a screen shot of the 2.0 and wrap it. Haha.

I think people that are offended by admitting they are dolls and insist they are adult collectibles or whatever are just insecure. Probably they are a little bit ashamed and afraid their friends will laugh at them for collecting man dolls. They are what they are. They are expensive and nicely made dolls.

If you are 100% confident and secured of your masculinity, you can walk around with a green vest and purple suit, and people still wouldn't think you are gay. In fact, psycho chicks in jester outfits dig that kinda thing. :wink1:

Great post! I couldn't agree more. This came up in another thread albeit a different subject. I'm pretty secure in my masculinity and I can say I collect toy or/dolls or what ever you want to call them and feel fine.

I don't mind saying toys. Dolls I still disagree with though simply because the word makes me think of those 1:1 infant toys for girls, not this type of figure.

I agree, If you tell someone you collect toys, well that could be anything. You tell someone you collect dolls 99.9999% of people are going to think of like creepy porcelain dolls or baby dolls etc. :lol

I think of it as "movie memorabilia". If I had a 12.5 million dollar house in Beverly Hills, and the money to boot, I'd probably collect actual movie memorabilia, but seeing as how I don't, my Hot Toys are the next best things; physical representations of some of my favorite characters.

Doll - noun
1.
a small figure representing a baby or other human being, especially for use as a child's toy.

Definition:
doll - a small replica of a person

dolly - conveyance consisting of a wheeled platform for moving heavy objects

Main Entry: action figure
Function: noun
Date: 1987
: a small-scale figure (as of a superhero) used especially as a toy

I always assumed that an action figure is all plastic. Molded clothing and accessories and that a doll was something that came with clothes that you could dress up. Barbie, baby dolls, etc.

So if I make pajamas for my figures and beds with sheets and pillows to get them ready for bed at night I'm not playing with dolls? Just movie memorabilia? Sweet! Can't wait to tell my wife.
