I reached the point where I realized that it makes no sense to me to compare Jokers...the character is so huge and iconic and has been interpreted and reinterpreted so many times over the decades. Ultimately it feels like you end up with the right Joker for the environment in which he is being presented...As great as Ledger's Joker is he would not have worked in Tim Burton's movie or Suicide Squad for that matter from a tone standpoint. I would not want Nicholson in Suicide Squad or Leto in Burton's film...I think that they are all solid interpretations (I know I am in the minority here regarding Leto) for the films and film environments that they were depicted in.

Totally agree, Ledger's Joker is the best film representation. Leto's version was pretty lame IMO.

It makes perfect sense to compare jokers.

If the environment we're in now is represented by Leto's Joker then our environment is pretty lame. ComicBookGirl19 described him pretty well in her review of Suicide Squad: she called him "Hot Topic Joker". (I myself prefer "Vanilla Ice Joker".)

suicide squad joker doesn't even seem like the real joker

he just seems like some dude that wants to be the joker in a universe where the joker is an actual person

like an elvis impersonator

He just kinda seemed like a perv to be honest. He didn't even do anything that bad. He just tried to get cuckold. :lol
I think Jared just might not get the character. All of those objects he sent to cast members didn't really seem Jokery at all.
**** beads and sticky ****o mags are not things I usually assosiate with the Joker. :lol

I can't wait to see what he sends to his cast members on the set of Justice League.

That's not a DX11. That's an Adam head and a Kato outfit, haired and painted by Owen.
Ah that makes sense..no way can somebody make the the stock HS look that realistic. So Owen just painted it and added the hair..still phenomal

Im waiting for a DX11 rerelease or something close to it but for now Leto Joker is our current Joker and he is going to have to do figure wise. I did like his performance though so accepting him as the new Joker isn't that tough for me.

I think the tattoos fit with the "vision" they're going for, but I would've preferred something more traditional. I still liked Leto's Joker though, and I don't think we saw enough of him to really judge him like the previous cinematic Jokers who were the main villains in their respective films, whereas Leto only has about 5-6 minutes of screentime tops.

Exactly. I would rank Ledger's performance in my top few all time movie performances period...but... We have to remember that the Joker character came along well before Heath Ledger or even Christopher Nolan for that matter were even born. Leto was not in a remake role of a character created by Ledger but instead playing a character that in many comic books over the decades has bared very little resemblance to Ledger's Joker either. The point is the character will always be subject to different interpretations and those interpretations will not always satisfy each fan's personal tastes...liking one interpretation less than another or even disliking it does not make it any less the Joker. It will simply have to be the Joker that you dislike and everyone is entitled to that. I like Ledger's Joker a lot more than Cesar Romero's...but if I am watching the '66 Batman...Romero is the Joker.

I am also sure that I would not have to work too hard to find some old school Batman fans who feel that Ledger's Joker is all manner of sleaze bag, long hair, weirdo or any other colorful contemporary epithet compare to the classic and traditional works of Cesar Romero....I would disagree... But once again that is the great thing about the character....

Agreed on both. I had even gotten over the stupid tattoos somewhat, and was hoping for an awesome Joker but left disappointed. I even told me wife he was more of a creep than anything else, touching everyone he came into contact with. And those ridiculous "gifts" he sent cast members were idiotic.

On other sites I've seen people hoping for a Joker "reboot" with Willem Dafoe in the role. Not gonna happen, but that's one I could get behind.

Dafoe would have made such a great Joker. I guess he's getting up there. Wouldn't mind seeing an older Joker though actually.

Look at that. Looks like he jumped right out of the arkham games.
