Yeah, they seemed the equivalent of Vader and Tarkin. Neither appeared to be the direct superior of the other in Star Wars. And I suspect that was by design. SO MANY winks to the original films.

I dare to disagree. Vader and Tarkin was ... well, not friends, but they know each other very well. They respect each other and cooperate without conflicts. Kylo and Hux ... not so much

Disney/Lucasfilm encouraged the hype around her character.
She was featured pretty heavily in marketing (posters, magazine covers, glimpses in the trailers, etc.) as one of the top three baddies along with Kylo Ren and General Hux.
They made it seem like she'd have a bigger part in the film. In the end she was just window dressing.
Also, used his blaster and had a cool ship.

i dont think phasma is the Boba equivalent. its someone else. i wrote about it in the TFA spoiler thread.
personally i have no problem with Phasma. thought she was fine. but in some ways im happy people didnt like her as much so i can maybe get her figuarts and black series now a lot cheaper

I don't think she'll be cheap though, kids will always find "her" cool.

I know Phasma was a late addition to the production and cast but for merchandising's sake, JJ should have at least tried to give her a tiny scene firing her blaster and taking out someone in a cool way. Not just walking and looking cool. The stormtrooper with that riot baton was more bad@$$ than Phasma. He was giving Finn a run for his money until Han intervened. I'm sure the next movie Phasma will redeem herself, it's too bad we have to wait til then. But her insignificant role in TFA is tempting me to reconsider my preorder just like others here.
One less character to buy.

Phasma my not be TFA's version of Fett, but damn if she didn't end up in a similar situation: Replace Sarlacc pitt with Garbage bin...
I doubt any of the figures from TFA go to discount.
I do see some of the figures being discounted, specifically Phasma, which had a disappointing role in TFA. Any inkling of a chance of picking this one up has definitely left me, after seeing the film.

No problem at all, my friend. It's simply my opinion.
The new film is a powerful force... It will help sell figures for sure, but it really is dependent on the number of figures that are planned to be made. I can see the Troopers selling well, as many collect armored types of figures. I just believe that Phasma will be the slow seller of the bunch, based on her scenes. I can't find one person that will admit that they were not disappointed with how her scenes panned out. That may be enough to turn off buying the figure.
I personally have no plans to purchase this rendition. (unless heavily discounted...)
Perhaps in Episode 8, she'll prove to be a great character and I'll then pick up that version.
