A lot of people like the light up saber feature on these figures, so if that's what the delay is, then that's cool that this figure will include this feature also; especially if people want to have her dueling Ren.

Myself, I've never once used the LED saber arms. Not because I feel they cheapen the figures, but simply because it's a hassle to change the arm in and out, put the batteries in and turn it on for about a minute just to see it light up and say, "Cool."

Why does everyone love the light up lightsaber so much? They look pretty crappy and kinda cheapen the figure. Plus it's always a hassle to turn on and off.

Sure you can take a good picture if you get the lightning just right but whatever. Certainly not worth delaying figures.

I find them really annoying. My biggest gripe is that the way they are permanently held makes for some crappy looking poses. Obi Wan is not even holding his like he did in any scene in the movie, his primary hand is on top of the saber grip in all the scenes and here it is permanently fixed lower. With non-powered accessories, you can swap them out quickly and change up your setup as often as you like but it is quite a hassle to undo the clothing, swap out an arm, etc.

I find the poses with Luke holding the light up saber also look poor. Almost any pose with him holding any other accessory than the light up saber look better. I don't care if they do the light up one or not on Rey. The only thing it would be cool for is battling Kylo and trying to recreate the scene where their FACES are both lit by their crossed sabers. Unfortunately, with the version of Ren available, this is still not possible.

I like the idea of light up savers more than I use them, but what's the problem? You could always sell the arm off and probably make more than what it cost you through buying the figure.

Yeah Tom has a good point, for anyone that really hates them, all your figures can be $50 cheaper if you want. Not bad at all. I think they're kinda meh, but can be good for photography. I took out all the arms and batteries on all of mine but find it hard to break up figures I plan on keeping.

Count me in as one of the(seemingly) few that like the lightupsabers. I don't have them on constantly but I think they're fun display options. I have Ren and I plan on displaying Rey AND Finn fighting him so if they want to fix her up for the lightup feature, I'd be happy with it.

My point is, if they are going to go gimmicky, please try. Please make the grips accurate to the character and please make the saber look like it is being held with intent. The Luke one it seems was built off a promo-photo, not film scenes per say and so the stance it a bit weird (I mean honestly he just batted some training bolts with it in the movie and did not use it until the next film so I am really just annoyed with Ben's grip the most and Luke overall has some issues as a figure).

That being said, I currently have both of them with light up saber attached as it impresses people really easily and the blue is certainly brighter/nicer than Padawan Obi Wan so they did get some things right. If they could get a cell small enough to actually fit in the hilt would be great as then it would just be another accessory and handled as such but I imagine that size fuel cell would remain lit for all of 3 seconds under current battery constraints.

I am also a collector that does not part out pieces. I keep the whole figure and if I don't use something it goes into one of my parts storage containers.

And make it so that the electronics work properly too! My Luke's lightsaber arm needs to be in a certain position for it to work properly, otherwise it won't turn on at all or, it'll flicker.

As someone mentioned, the light up sabers really only serve photographic purposes. Come to think of it, a lot of light up functions on HT really only serve that purpose.

With Finn being released today in HK. I wonder why Rey was pushed back? Could they be having issues with bb8 or are they adding a light up feature? I really wish she was out already! Gagh!

I'd be more inclined to say the latter. At first they were simply going to add a lightsaber without having the LED function (similar to DX07 Bespin Luke), but I'm guessing there may have been a lot of gripes about how all the other SW figures will have the LED lightsaber except Rey.

I'm a little worried about this after seeing new pictures of the Finn figure. I hope they take the extra time to make this look as close to the proto as possible!

I've always wondered why they haven't opted for a metal peg conductive system for the light up sabers instead of the wiring. All you need is a current which can be achieved in a handful of ways. That way the saber could technically light up no matter how it was held. It would take some engineering trickery to ensure it didn't ground itself but still nothing too out there. I've had items as a kid that worked in ways like that.
