Why, so they can listen to the rants of about 50-100 fanboys who overly bash and overly critical of everything?

Seriously, it's not like we're the only people that buy HT figures. The recent IM Mk6 had an ES of 3K - do you think all 3K of those people post here? There might have been 200 people posting in that thread for it, not enough to even warrant a second glance.

People keep foolishly thinking that if we "the fanbase" disappeared that HT would go under. I guarantee you that if everyone who posts on this board stopped buying HT figures, then HT would still be in business just fine.

It's called a "cross section". A statistical sampling, if you will. It's how a lot of market research is done. The results may be skewed by variables, such as accessibility to online forums, but it's still an indicator of purchasing trends. If this sort of feedback was useless, companies like Sideshoiw wouldn't ask for reasons why customers cancel their orders (and they do ask, btw).

Oh, and if they are not targeting "the fanbase" for sales, then just who the hell are they targeting?

Well said!:clap

And my whole point in this is that a head sculpts likeness to the actor is subjective. AN OPINION. Eye of the beholder. If YOU think a HS doesn't look like the actor and I do, that doesn't make it lower quality.

ITS YOUR OPINION OR MINE!

Someones likeness isn't subjective at all unless you have problems with eyesight. The way someone looks is the way someone looks there are no two ways about it.

In the case of this headsculpt it lands in the same realm the original Avengers Thor did. Hot Toys improved it after specs were released, this doesn't have specs yet so I'm sure it'll be better by then.

Even though I agree that a person looks the way they look, If HT 3d scanned and printed a persons head, someone will ALWAYS find a detail to complain about,

So you are saying that whenever a friend says to you I THINK PERSON A LOOKS LIKE PERSON B, YOU ALWAYS AGREE? Or has someone ever told you that YOU look a particular actor, YOU ALWAYS AGREE?

Because if looks aren't subjective, then everyone in the world would always agree on someone looks. And I doubt that is the cse.:dunno

But it is a great point that no matter how close the sculpt is to perfection, some will always find something wrong with it. Which also kinda proves subjectivity.

I see Cruise in Xavier sculpt and I know others do as well. Those who don't have hissy fits. Therefore, I agree it is subjective.

I am not even admitting the Wolverine sculpt is a dead on likeness either, I am saying being a Jackman / Wolverine fan it'll be mine regardless.

In the end this debate will most likely prove pointless, because this figure is just a prototype...and I've a strong feeling that Hot Toys will FIX it before it's final release, so that it will actually "look" like Hugh Jackman.:wink1:

Without feedback from their customer base, a company like Hot Toys is operating in a vaccuum of information when trying to determine why some items didn't sell well. Is the license not as popular as they believed? Where there QC issues with materials? Did aspects of the product not live up to customer expectation? Should they be trying a different marketing approach? etc. etc

:goodpost: :exactly:

Unfortunately the bulk of the whiny feedback is nearly all about the same figures or licenses and outshines the rest (haven't seen one post on FB about Wolverine, but have seen tons anout batmans crotch area being incorrect to bales junk measurements) those people have extremely unrealistic expectations, something that looks amazing but is 95% accurate instead of 100% garners some who complain it's not a 1:1 shrunken down for them molecule for molecule.

Batman and Ironman collector's are nuts. I always take into consideration small liberties that HT may need to take to bring a 1:1 scale down to 1:6 scale therefore, I rarely nitpick about armor, clothes etc.

I will call bogus on hs which I have done with this figure. I think they missed the mark again with Jackman. I hope the specs reveal a better sculpt but in the end, I'll buy this one regardless. If it is Chris Evans as Cap, I'd pass on a bad hs. Mostly because I know most likely another version is coming from Cap and Avengers 2.

Didn't someone from Hot Toys say they wanted another shot to sculpt Jackman Wolverine, so that they could nail it? Way to go, buddy...way to go.

How much the likeness matters to some is subjective though. As Darkseed said, this doesn't look much like Jackman, but in this case it doesn't matter as much to him or me because the hair, expression and mutton chops are classic Wolverine.

I'm at a wait and see stance, while the headsculpt isn't jackman right now it is wolverine, and since i want wolverine on my shelf and not jackman then i'm happy.

What's funny is that this is how I feel about this figure as well - love Jackman's portrayal of Wolverine, but overall, the character is what is the draw for me on this one. Now, if we were talking about Stewart's Professor X or McKellan or Fassbender's Magneto, I'd want the likeness to be spot-on...weird, I know. :dunno

Oddly enough, I feel this way about all the Hot Toys. I'm happy if they look a lot like the actor. But I'm buying them more for the character.

I too think Jackman is a great Wolverine. And I hope they make the sculpt resemble him more. But I want a Wolverine.

I also agree with that. I will get this Wolverine, but if they put out another with a better Jackman likeness, I would also get that one!

I can kinda understand that. But since it doesn't look like Jackman...then he shouldn't be wearing that costume.
He'd look cool wearing the bomber jacket from "Days of Future Past.":wink1:
