Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

1) "The Avengers" => Marvel
Marvel =~ George Lukas

That's why it's easy to produce.

***

2) XFC => 20th Century Fox =/= Marvel => Problems

:dunno I guess if you don't you don't, oh well. It's not uncanny but the features are all very similar. It's obvious he was who they were going for.

Hope so, it's been more than a year with zero figures, their waits from announcement to figures (other than Avengers/Batman) is :censored ridiculous :mad: :gah:

Remember that this film was so rushed into production they never got a regular action figure line out to store shelves for its release. HT snagged the license very late, and the film didn't exactly light the BO on fire. Outside this forum I'm not sure how much demand there really is for this license at this time. Too many obscure characters, or classic characters (Xavier, Magneto) that are very different from their iconic depictions (walking, hairy Xavier, Magneto in blue and yellow, etc). Ironically I think they would have seen more interest had they snagged the license to X1, 2 or 3.

I'd have to agree with this. X-Men is my favorite Marvel team and I wasn't really that thrilled with the reboot. Yes, Xavier and Magneto were good, but I thought everyone else was lacking. Which in turn means that I would only barely be interested in a Xavier or Magneto figure and would easily pass on the rest. Seriously, they went back to the scaly Mystique? She looked horrible and no where near the sex-bomb Mystique from the comics.

Now, if they got X1, X2, or even X3, I would flip.

Aww...poor you. I am so so sorry an interesting female character was not sufficiently sexed up to meet your high standards. Get in line behind the people sniffling that January Jones was not 'hot enough' to be Emma Frost.

While I wasn't sold on Mystique, it was mostly because of her mutant form. I think both actress who portrayed Mystique and Emma Frost were great.

I'm sorry that you thought First Class Mystique was "interesting"... but thanks for letting me know - now I can understand what standards to expect from you.

While not 100% i see Fassbender there.

1. Box Office means ____
2. Film recieved universal praise
3. Aside from their modern costumes all character are pretty accurate to young comics counterparts (Beast, Azazel, Magneto Helmet)
4. People who aren't interested will see this on facebook for the first time and buy or pass based soley on it's look not it's source material. Interest will spike
5. X-Men characters > Avengers characters, always has been always will be.

Yeah, it's just a resemblance, not a perfect likeness. I didn't even realize it at first. My plan is to still use it for Baron Zemo, but like I said, worse comes to worse it's the best option for a Magneto bash.

Great points. I hope Hot Toys looks at this as one big line, and doesn't just give us Xavier and Magneto EVERY movie. I'd like to see some other characters for X:FC2 (like Beast, Emma Frost, or even Havok).

Looks quite good, i can see a decent resemblence

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

They give an update on Prometheus, but still nothing official about X-Men (a license announced months earlier) :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo: :gah:

Yeah, why would they want to capitalize on the attention being given a major motion picture's opening weekend when they could be touting a film everyone has forgotten?

Re: Hot Toys-MMS: X-Men 1st Class

I'm curious as to when we might actually see these figures. I want to know if I'll be able to use HT's Fassbender sculpt to do a custom Lt. Archie Hicox from Inglorious Basterds.

Cos from the reviews and ratings i've seen it's a better film :lecture
And it was announced many months beforehand

1. Better does not make it more popular, or its figures more in demand.
2. Better received a year ago <<<<< capitalizing on an ongoing multi-milliion dollar, world wide adverstising campaign.

Truthfully I don't see a lot of potential in Prometheus for figures, or at least not figures you'd want to drop two bills for and have on your shelf for a decade. You have Spidey, Luke, T-800, people will know them. Shaw and David? Not so much (though the same goes for most of the FC mutants too).

Your interest in this license is clouding your opinion tbh, fact of the matter is whilst the film was X-Men in name the film didn't comply with what most people think of when they think X-Men i.e. Wolverine, bald wheelchair bound Professor X, Purple Magneto, Cyclops etc etc

I enjoyed the film when I watched it at the cinema but have yet to have the urge to watch the blu ray I've owned since it's release, I've got no interest in a McAvoy figure and barely an interest in a Fassbender version of Magneto
