33, my father brought this home to me on a VHS, I had no clue what it was about but it freak my ____ as I was in front of the tube. :panic: :lol

Not really sure how old I was, it was the early, early 90s.

I was REALLY young when I first saw Terminator. I knew about it because of it's influence on pop culture but I was vaguely familiar with all of it.

I remember asking if my dad had the film about "cops and robots". I thought the basic plot of the film was about two cyborgs fighting to become cops or something (getting confused with T2). So I begged my dad to see a rated R movie. He kept telling me he didn't have it despite the fact that he literally had EVERY film in his entertainment room (all VHS back then).

Well my mom had left to go somewhere one day and my dad called me. He had something behind his back and said, "look what I found". He turned it over and it was The Terminator VHS cover. It wasn't those cardboard/paper box slip covers this thing was like a plastic case that you'd find at the library with the little hole in the back.

Of course, I ____ING LOVED IT. The surgery scene, ____ YOU ASS HOLE, having to close my eyes when Kyle and Sarah poke (didn't do it lol), the endo, all this stuff on an impressionable child. It freaked the hell out of me but I loved every minute of it.

But man, even as a kid I understood how gritty it was. I didn't understand the basic concept of it all like John Connor or the technoir aesthetic but I got the dark vibes of the 80s.

I'm not sure if I was supposed to watch it or what not but my father brought it home as a rental. One of those VHS rentals to where it came in a brown leather bind sort of deal. Ole school :lol anyways I don't think my mom had a clue what it was and by the time I was all ready into it, more than likely it was either too late or they just weren't paying attention. :lol

Damn, we're really damaged...in a very positive way, from my pov.
:lol

I turn 30 this year and watched it at my aunt and uncle's. My parents sent me to bed when the Terminator stormed the police station.
I slept in a bunk bed and looked out of the window and it was summer.
Outside I could see the corner of a house where a garland was attached, every bulb was busted except for one tiny red in the dark then.
Care to guess what I imagined as a 7-year old?
:rotfl
After that I thought Arnold crashed into the police station with a trans am, until my dad got T1 & T2 together on VHS years later and I finally saw the first complete.
That was it, I was totally thrilled and forever caught.
I watched T1 a few hrs ago for the dunno how many time and it's still absolutly breathtaking, especially the music and the FX.
Brad Fiedel, Jim Cameron and Stan Winston were THE 3 individuals then that were way, WAY ahead of their time!

Yeah, my mom would have had none of that, which is why I think my dad let me see it when she went out.

I didn't keep it a secret long though with the new quotes I learned. :lol

"Mom?"

Yes?

"____ YOU ASS HOLE"

*pulls out wooden spoon*

Where did you get that from?

5 when I watched The Exorcist :rotfl:rotfl:rotfl:rotfl

O we sharing stories of when we first watched Terminator :D? Well I'll chip in too. I first saw it when I was about 6 or 7 and to be honest, at that time I wasn't paying attention to what the plot was, I just knew this huge guy was after this girl for some reason. But I remember falling in love with Terminator when I laid my eyes on that machine, it looked so darn cool. I think a kid of 6 or 7 should normally be afraid of this sort of stuff, but strangely I wasn't.

Anyway, I just watched it again 4 days ago, and that's when I finally decided to get this figure, when I saw that Arnie scanning the crowd in slow-mo scene: it was just too good. But darn I didn't get a chance to pick him up today, tomorrow for sure.

Same here, I'm not sure why I wasn't scared more intrigue and wanted more :lol

It was freaking but like in a good way to where you want to bring over friends and share the same experience. Which I did BTW, :lol.

3 friends and I were on purple microdots when we 1st seen T1 . and boy what a ride that was . micrdots and booze make great flick into an incredible one.

The Exorcist DID in fact freak my ____ out though, I couldn't sleep for like weeks.

That is one I wish I never watched at that age. :lecture

Thought that too at the time.
But now...glad my parents had me watching it and blasted my ears with Black Sabbatch, Fleetwood Mac, Deep Purple and others.
They defined my musical and cinematorical taste...
