'So uh, which will it be?'...All.

Hmmm. I wouldn't agree with that. It nails the character for sure but technically as far as matching Arnolds likeness I think it could be better. Like the MMS117 the face is too squat/square. Ideally it would just be stretched vertically a bit. Going entirely back to the drawing board like DX10 corrected the squareness issue but brought in new problems.

Yeah, I remember someone saying that HT had yet to nail Arnold's likeness, and I had a feeling it would come up after I made my comment.:)

As with most things, there's always room for improvement. I guess what I was getting at was out of all the Arnold HT figures, T1 for me had the most, well what I would call "double take" reaction. That and probably the Dutch one. Now, I've watched The Terminator recently, but I've never did comparison shots. For me, personally if I look at a figure and tell myself that it looks a lot like which every character it's supposed to look like, then I'm happy. I'm still newer the 1/6 community so maybe I'll get an eye for it, but there's other figures who's likeness is off whom I still enjoy, like Hans Landa.

As for the DX10, yeah, I like the figure, but I had problems with it. Mostly cause of the PERS, but with glasses on he looks like Arnold. It would be interesting to see the DX10 head with the T1 hair on it just to see the difference.

So, saying "Spot on" was probably not the best choice, but hey if they can do an even better T1 sculpt I'm all for it.

With the mms117 the squashed face is almost more noticeable when he has his sunglasses on. Definitely could be improved. DX10 does look much better, but it still has some weird "cartoon" features and qualities to it. Part of that can be blamed on PERS though.

Yeah PERS just isn't 'there' yet and I don't think it ever will be. I'll give DX13 a chance but if that too ends up looking iffy I'd happily see the end of it. The eye positioning is important for the ''scanning'' pose everyone wants to do but at the same time I'm not sure I'd want to be stuck with the sideways thing permanently on the semi-bd headsculpt. So I may let it slide without major complaint on DX13.

Having all the Arnold sculpts talked about hear I would have to agree with The Chev, best ones are the mms136 and dutch from hot toys imo. Arnold was super pumped in T1 and making the face skinner would not fit the look he had in t1, as for the dutch head its pretty much all there, only complaint would be it is a bit small in scale compared to newer hot toys figures as of late.

While the dx10 has captured arnolds likeness best from t2, better than the mms117 the pers system causes the eyes, hair, and neck to look less realistic unfortunitly which leaves the mms117 head to be the better looking of the two for me, that and the mms117 head has sharper detail and looks to me more meaner and bad@$$.

All that said I love them all:)

Well, you wouldn't be making it skinnier by making it longer. DX10's head isn't slimmer in width than the MMS117 head to my knowledge. Its not even hugely longer, the difference is minimal but significant enough at the same time to eliminate the 'toadface' thing a few of us see. Agreed though about the negatives of the DX10 head, the impact PERS had, the neck, the ugliness of the removeable access hatch and the softer detail.

There is much Arnie-love here. Your legion has grown since you last posted it I think. I also notice you've gone full mantis with your minigun T-800 :hi5:

I took my MMS-117 out for this pic, but didn't include the EB Arnie & the 1/6 Fat Boy Harley. And you are correct that I'm close to full mantis now. :)

Y'know I don't think I'll ever turn down a new Arnold figure even if it takes a step back in likeness. :lol So yeah I welcome any new attempt. And a reason I want them the just get rid of PERS in future is to minimise the ways in which they could compromise his likeness. To me the likeness is every viewpoint, not just the front and not just his face but his hair, his hairline, the shape of his skull, the jawline. If I had my way they'd be doing all-on-one head/necks again so the jawline isn't ruined and they don't give him a Channing Tatum neck - the only human on earth whose neck looks like DX10s.

I think if hot toys were to make an mms police shootout figure now it would likely be better than the technoir but not by a mile. There are some improvements that could make it better though. I look to the barney ross figure to see how far they have come, both are great likenesses but the newer one wins for me.

I was blow away by the technoir figure when I received it and still love it til today, its still in my top 3 hot toys figures of all time and likely tops to list TBH. As for dutch It was my first hot toys figure I got and the one that got me back into collecting 1/6. I put him back in his box only a week or so after getting him and resently opened him up again a week ago only to be blown away all over again at how well they captured his likeness even 4 years ago.

Yeah, it's hit or miss with me on PERS. I feel it works best on masked and people wearing make-up. I really wish they'd stop with the every DX must have PERS. As far as the DX13 is concerned, It should still be an awesome figure even if the likeness is like the DX10. However the alt head doesn't have it right? It has the light up eye, right?

I don't have Dutch anymore. Sold all 3 that I once had. I actually fell out of love with that sculpt. Mainly though I needed the money and I felt I could be happy with the new NECA figures. Which I am. I feel no need to buy back Dutch. In any case I think he's still on HT's radar for a future figure again....who knows what scale.

The full BD head might be a Hulk scenario, I'm not sure. Where each eye is operated individually as opposed to a single joystick controlling both. Hulks eyes are great actually but on a human sculpt I expect we'd see the same drawbacks as we do with regular PERS.

If I may be so bold - that shirt needs to be tucked into his pants :monkey3

I dunno, I think he's kinda dated, but don't let me spoil him on you.

I really like the likeness, and would love to pick this up at some point, but if we're being bold. In some pictures his face looks plastic unlike some figures with paint apps that make them look more natural.. Maybe it's the skin texture?? Still a great figure.

I have been picking up those neca figures piece by piece, I just got the muddy version yesterday and Have to agree those are some awesome figures, its amazing how well they captured the likeness on such a small figure, the detail on that muddy version is incredible, I wish they would make these in 12" size again like they did with the T2 line, they would have a greater display presents.

I still have one more to hunt down, the shirtless version:panic:
