Highlander, eh, never had the desire to see it...but that my own opinion. just because there is a huge following of it and people love it doesnt mean i need to see it...if its not your thing, its not your thing....

It shouldn't be anybodys thing dude, that's kinda the point.

Girls with guns and swords is one thing. Girls who look 16 who we are told are 21 being sexually abused is something else entirely.

Sexually abused girls would not dream that stuff up. Saying otherwise makes you sound ridiculous dude.

Her "imaginations" completely trivialized her "struggles". That's the issue here. It all started to feel silly and hard to sympathize with.

:goodpost::exactly:

Are you suggesting that appreciation of this film is coextensive with getting turned on by 16 year old girls with guns and swords?

And I see nothing trivial about the way she glorified her actions. She was performing menial feats that had severe consequences and her imagination reflected that significance.

could we get back to talking bout the figures please
theres already a thread to talk about the movie that I don't go to

No its not i certainly didnt watch it while touching myself i just enjoyed the film as a bit of mindless escapism nothing more nothing less

You most certainly can
I only came here to agree that i might buy the figure based on the fact that i enjoyed the film & now i wish i hadnt as that seems to be overshadowed by the fact that no one should apparantly enjoy this film

The figure does look good though & will probably find its way into my collection

I am not saying you or anybody esle is but that's the exact question you need to ask Zach Snyder.

Why did they tell us Baby Doll was 21 as apposed to 16?

The answer to that question answers a lot of other questions.

I like this movie, but I am not gonna kid myslef into saying it's tasteful.
Know what you like and why you like it is all I am saying.

Emily Browning is 23, her character was 20. If you get a weird 16 year old vibe from a woman who clearly isn't then that's your own thing. Doesn't make the movie "sexist."

How do you know what was fed to her off camera? The film clearly shows that Dr. whats-her-name was instructing the girls to create alternate realities in their minds and was having them do weird dress up roleplays. For all we know she told BD to treat the men as monsters to slay and she reluctantly obeyed. Its not a huge leap given the dialogue in the actual film.

I'm going to get both of them, and then pose them so they're making out with each other. I'll post pics:)

If Hot Toys doesn't make a Sweet Pea then I'll be hunting one of these down:

What kind of 21 year old is still living at home with her sexually abbusive step father? It's pretty clear she was meant to be 16 and then they made sure to tell us she was 21 for fear of getting into trouble.

If you really don't think a girl in a very tiny skimpy school uniform dreaming about robots and dragons to deal with her sexual abuse isn't sexist, then I don't know what to say to you.

Guess I must be a prude.

I will shut up now. On with the figure talk! :)

"Hahaha I know what I'll do. I'll put my entire argument into one giant post and then say I'm done arguing as to create a one sided unapproachable argument that can no longer be disputed thus making me feel good about myself!"

The movie isn't sexist nor is it trying to further equalize races. It's just there. I don't know why people love to try to approach novels, films, and games with a feminist perspective even when it is more or less irrelevant. Is it sexist to have eye candy? I didn't know that. I guess Commando is sexist too. The plot having issues points to being sexist? No it can just point to it being stupid. She still lives with her father because...who cares? It has nothing to do with the movie and nothing to do with these figures. Either go all out or say nothing at all. Don't just go "lol I'm done though so we're cool" after posting some meaty argument, thinking you got the mods protecting your back.

IF the film is sexist, then it could only be Sexist to men, all men except for one is a bad guy,

No one ever goes at it from that angle, damn double standards again. :nono :cuckoo:

Let's have a look at the figure shall we...
