Ouch. When I broke into the hobby the first issue Mark I was long sold out and was at sixth scale grail status fetching ~$500 on the secondary market. Almost pulled the trigger a few times but never did thankfully due to this version being released. Oh man, when the 2.0 news hit there was so much drama :rotfl

Yeah man, i contemplated getting this for awhile but just like always, there were too many other figs i wanted. I need more money dammit!

On a similar note, you guys think I should wait for a mk4 2.0 or try and get one on the secondary for a reasonable price? I'm thinking 400 is the max id want to pay but im hoping for somewhere between 250-350.

Don't see a 2.0 being released again for any reason unless they decide to do all the armors in Diecast. The Mark IV had a second release with the Gantry though so who knows. I wouldn't count on another re-release if it were me. :dunno

Yea I definitely think the next one would be diecast, which would be great. Its been hinted that mk3 would be getting dc treatment hasn't it, I have no urge for either of the current mk3s so ill def wait on that. The 4 and 6 on the other hand im really not sure what to do. Thanks for the advice though.

Hinted by Hot Toys? Not that I recall. It's been discussed on the forums about a re-release for years now and a Diecast release recently as soon as Hot Toys announced the line.

I read somewhere on this forum that Howard Chan didnt want to continue the DC line, dont know if it's just smoke up my arse though...

Naw you heard right, I'm thinking diecast is a little to much for HT right now, to much costs and not enough leeway for profit compared to their normal plastic. I wouldn't be surprised if Whiplash MKII is the last diecast fig.

Agreed. Have to believe they are losing money on making Whiplash Mk II a Diecast figure :lol

I think Warmachine has a bit too much. It's overly heavy.

I think the Mark I could use some for more balance in the feet, and to reinforce the shoulders. I always feel that I'm going to break something with the Mark I.

It was an OSR Q and A with HT where he said they didn't have plans to RE RELEASE any iron man armors except the mk3. As far as new ones go I'd love for bones to be diecast.

It all stems from when they announced the Diecast series, it had the movie Logos of all 3 iron men films so people assumed they were gunna redo everything

I was gonna say "DO IT NOW!!!!" :lol

Make sure to check them batteries other than that it should be great

Thanks for the tip man! Seller got it covered, told me all lights are working and the batteries were taken out before to avoid leaks :) Be meeting the seller this weekend, I wish I could do so earlier but work's tight right now! :)

There are a few stores in here where Whiplash 2 is still available for PO, to my surprise. It seems everybody wanted it, but is taken aback by its price. With the way the secondary market is going lately even with IM figures, I think some people are hoping that Whiplash would still be around at least on retail price for a long time. Locally, you can get Iron Monger, Mandarin, Tony Mechanic, Tony Armor Test, and WM2.0 for under retail.

I believe Whiplash 2 can look just as awesome without the diecast, seeing how HT's mimicked haphazardly welded iron plates on IM Mark 1 (both versions) using plastic.

And can I just say -- I don't get collectors who seem to think that weight/heft = quality. There's a thread going on at a local forum where the OP asked which is more recommended: WM1 or WM2 (as he can only get one). I don't mind those saying that this version LOOKS better than the other, but I shake my head each time I see replies like "you should feel the weight etc, the die cast has a nice feel on the figure, etc, it's really heavy! etc" of WM2.0. Are they going to hold their figures each day to feel their weight? Coz I'm happy just staring at them on my shelves.

^^ the "feel"and mechanical quality of the IM diecast figures is what sets it apart from the plastic versions as well as improved articulation. There's a big difference in "heft" or weight that I personally prefer. And because of the weight difference IMO the plastic ones just feels like a toy
