Thanks guys. I know most everyone is pumped over the newer stuff and I am too but I'm still happy hunting down deals on some of the older ones I've been wanting!

HUGE congrats! It's one suit i'll never get rid of and was my first Armor I ever purchased.

Congrats Batbrain! My girlfriend calls it the "primitive" armor, but she says it's the one HT armor that impressed her most.

I might end up eating my own words, but I don't see this piece looking dated even when the inevitable die-cast remake comes out. Purely fantastic sculpt and paint this figure has.

I have to strongly agree with you here. I probably will still buy the DieCast Version but I don't think there will be much differences. This piece rules. I need to take him out of the case and take some pics.

I could be wrong, but I'm not sure the Diecast and Power Pose endeavors have been as successful for Hot Toys as they hoped. Price is one issue, but their plastic releases - especially the likes of Silver Centurion and Heartbreaker - are just as stunning as any diecast figure. The plastic Iron Man figures have for the most part always been impressive. The only real tangible difference is weight and a slight air of perhaps artificial exclusivity.

The Mk 43 is only diecast because it's a repaint of the 42, and the Mark III was most likely in development alongside 42, IP, and WM Mk II. If the Mk 45 is plastic, I think we'll know for certain where the line will go.

Yeah I never really bought into the diecast thing... the MKIII will be my first. The price is the biggest trade off for me

The majority of Diecast HT IM's are selling well with some PO's are going to wait list, so I'm not sure what else HT could hope for or why you'd think they aren't successful especially considering they keep pumping them out. :dunno

That's not necessarily true. The only items that went to wait list are ones that are limited by nature, ie. the exclusives. The standard versions of the figures are all readily available and will be for some time. IP has been discounted (sometimes heavily) by a few retailers including Sideshow. I've seen many people wait for discounts or use rewards to make stomaching the price less painful.

And they don't keep pumping them out per se. The 43 is diecast because 42 was, and it's more or less the same figure. Likewise, Hot Rod is diecast because it's IP. The 42, IP, Whiplash, and III were all likely developed at the same time and I consider them and their derivatives to be one wave of diecast figures. Whether there'll be an all new diecast figure that's not a repaint/retool after this remains to be seen.

Like I said, we'll know the fate of the diecast line only when the Mk 45 hits. If it's plastic, diecast was likely just a phase. If it's diecast, it's here to stay.

Don't get me wrong, I have 42, IP, and WM 2.0, with III, Hot Rod, and 43 on order. I like them just fine, but not any more than the plastic releases. I don't think I'm alone in that.

I didn't state the entire DC line went to wait list. Some did, some didn't, but if they were so terrible none of them would sell out and if they were such a financial failure HT wouldn't keep releasing them. You're also speculating as to why HT has opted to make the 43, Hot Rod, and Whiplash Mk 2 Diecast. The truth is nobody knows.

The release of the 45 has no bearing on the DC line. I've read the same thing with regards to Heart Breaker and Python prior to their release, both ended up being plastic, yet he we are getting more DC figures.

If I had to choose a preference it'd probably be plastic to keep the retail costs down, but the DC figures are better in every way especially in articulation.

Its Diecast...

it will be diecast, theres not debate over that.

It being diecast does not mean DC is guaranteed to stay. Its an easy reuse for them and the manufacturing process requires it to be diecast because it will cost HT's less money to re run the 42 template than it would if they had to redo the whole thing with new plastic molds... Look at Starboost, has every feature the diecast does except the weight... but the prices have closed in as well, the winner will be whatever is cheaper for HT's to produce basically
