Well 12 said he used a semi gloss and his pics show the shield looking dull. :huh

Because semi gloss is less glossy than a basic gloss spray. I know from spraying gundam kits, so I kinda know the difference of the the outcome.

Not sure how it will look on the shield.

Check the B/S/T section of this forum. Often times there are members here that sell there stuff at reasonable prices, much better than what you'll find on eBay! Good luck with your hunt.

Thanks :wave Been looking but most are in the US so thought i would ask here.

Following the success of my previous post asking for the Iron Man i'm now looking for a HT Captain America Avengers MMS 174.

I'm in the UK so would prefer to buy it from the UK or EU for shipping and tax reasons.

I'm looking for one that is still sealed and never opened in a mint box with the plastic bag, preferably with the original shipper (which can have been opened).

I'm willing to pay a fair price but it has to be below eBay or else i would just go there instead since you won't be paying any fees selling from here. Send me a PM with the details and price. Thanks for reading.

Amazon.co.uk has them on their site

Sorry I took so long about following up on the Cap shield. To coat it I used what someone else recommended - Tamiya TS-79 Clear Semi-gloss. Here's two shields - the duller one is sprayed and protected, the shiny one will probably have to be soon as its showing the pre-flaking cracks...

Ooh I like that spray just for the fact that it dulled the shield. Cap's shield in the movie wasn't a shiny mirror so I'm glad that you can make it more accurate with the spray (in addition to protecting the paint.)

So does the paint flaking on the shield a result of really humid/hot temperatures?

I live in Seattle where it doesn't really get hot so I was wondering if the flaking should be a problem I need to worry about

Found out my avengers cap shield started to flake, sprayed gloss coat over it. But dusts got stuck on it and a little bit of paint bleed, kinda look worse now......... Still has the shine though, although with the gloss coat its more of a wet shine.

Oh great. I've left mine in the box and only use the BD one. I'll have to check it out again for this problem. :slap

Yeah me too... but then, I'm fast falling out of love with Hot Toys.

Products usually look great, but as I'm experiencing the crap side of HT with this shield, rubber muscle bodies cracking, pink iron man panties and leaky batman suits... not to mention their increasingly high prices for toys that don't last as long as the superhero figures I had as a kid... I'm falling out of love with this company, and getting VERY choosy with what I purchase from them now. With all the added issues I'm hearing from the Amazing Spider Man figure having very weak shoulders that break from regular posing... I wish I knew how to cancel my pre-order of that from Pop Culture Zone, but I put a non-refundable deposit, so I'm stuck with it.

Agreed they don't make 'em like they used to! But, that goes for every product nowadays.

If I would have purchased the melting Comedian, leaky Batman, fragile Spidey and other characters with defects out of the box I'd feel the same way you do. Rotting bodies and statues that lean 30 degrees forward release after release are what turned me off to Enterbay.

Luckily, IM is my main collection line & the pink panty thing doesn't bother me too much. I'm going to actually enjoy getting my hands dirty and fixing my 1 figure that has it & if it goes well I'm considering customizing a few of my own :D

It doesn't have the mirror treatment, so I believe its a non-issue. I haven't heard of this one flaking, mine hasn't. The process used to adhere paint to the shiny shield is a totally different one from the battle damaged shield, which I suspect has the paint applied in the more traditional method. I wouldn't worry about it, I'm pretty sure they will all be fine.

I've been displaying mine with the BD shield ever since I got it, and no signs of flaking whatsoever.

Sweet, might just use that one then. Although I like the shiny shield:slap

a decent deal is a little subjective since its sold out everywhere at retail. you won't find one at retail for "a decent price", you'll have to just wait for one to pop up in the BST section

I'm about to give up on getting this guy... can't find a decent deal anywhere.

Wondering if I should just wait for the winter soldier version..

Hi, it depends on which version you prefer? I think waiting will be a better option. The winter soldier will probably have 2 versions (stealth suit and new-old suit, which is similar to the first avenger version). Also, usually when the newer version's pre-order is released or teased, people tend to sell the avengers version to upgrade etc and you can get them at a lower price than now.
