Captain America FA = $169.99
Captain America AV = $214.99
How on earth do they justify a $45 increase!!!!!!!!!!!! :gah:
The other cap is still in stock at sideshow, and there hasnt been a long gap between releases!
Hawkeye and Nick Fury are both $189.99.
Starting to get real real annoyed with these price hikes and this hobby!:mad::mad::mad:

$45.00 for the 2nd head and extra shield.

While personaly I would've prefered no second head or shield to save the $45.00, the price hike is understandable for those 2 extras that didn't come with the FA.

I don't get why the extra $45 is so difficult to understand for some people.

i dont think its that which ppl dont get, but rather why for a mms its so expensive, sure it has loads of stuff bt others like t1000 had loads but was cheaper and this isnt a dx which this mms's price is close to. if it was maybe just alittle bit more than hawkeye or nick's and not too close to a dx im sure nobody would make noise

just my 2cents.

i do wonder why the bd shield is not shiny and the original is and nobody has even asked that yet! i guess the original wasnt supposed to be shiny? the fa bd shield wasnt shiny and the avengers one doesnt look shiny either... curious...

My thoughts on the matter....

I can almost see how HT's reasoning worked out here...

  • It's not DX so it can't be in the $250+ range
  • It's a better version than CA:TFA so it can be more than $160
  • It is part of the huge AVENGERS movie so it can be above $200
  • There are more team members to buy so it cannot be too much over $200

Having just watched the First Avenger, this HS wouldn't work on that figure for me or this, he never has a furious vengeance in his face, he's Captain America, a noble hero, not a snarling hero, even when angry he's got a more determined not raging face

Its a scam at $45 extra for those 2 additions. Its a normal mms figure.
Look at T1 T800 he came with 2 heads and a bunch of stuff, look at Tony Stark mech test, he came with a bunch of stuff (and lights) Iron man mark IV (2 heads bunch of lights), Iron man mark II AU (loaded figure) Sweeny Todd got a bunch of accessories and a big chair.
Even though its justified for the iron mans to be a little more expensive than the normal figures due to their technicality of design and lighting, they were ok, but this?? Its a normal figure, nothing special. We will see what they charge for Thor when he is up for PO. If its $215, then again.. SCAM.
Before you know it we will be getting charged $249.99 for a normal stock standard run of the mill MMS with bland accessories and people will be thinking its normal.
I love these HT's just as much as the next guy, but seriously. Just how much can these companies inflate their prices before we are pushed out of affordability for this hobby. :(

^ people want it, so they are justifying the price increase to something rational that they can accept it and enjoy the figure without thinking if the value matches what it should.

this feels exactly the same as the TFA Cap thread. All kinds of hate before the film and figure came out and then once everyone saw the finished product they all loved it.

I was thinking the opposite Nick, I thought most everyone liked the First Avenger figure when it was first shown. I was just in overall disappointed by the CA design in this movie so wasn't really surprised I didn't like this figures look that much.

Everyone complaining about the price: Just don't buy it!

Its not just about this figure, its about future releases as well. You cant just say dont like the price dont buy it.
We are here to enjoy the hobby we love, and to support the companies that make them, but when it starts going downhill like this you have to speak out and wonder what does the future hold for this hobby when it gets to the point you start cutting pre orders and limiting your collection and spending, not because of the quality of the items but of the price tags.
Ive already cancelled 3 statues and the joker 89 cause of the price tags this year, let alone not even pre ordered a bunch of stuff where 1 year ago i wouldnt have thought twice.
Personally i hated the AV Cap suit when i first saw it onscreen, but this HT figure changed my mind quickfast to the point i love it.

:exactly: Well put. I've already cut back. Cancelled quite a few pre-orders. And as much as I like this figure I don't think I'll be buying it. Going to just enjoy the collection I already have.

Love that the neck and head are one piece.
Getting rid of joints is always a win.

i know how you feel, used to think i could get as many as i wanted (dif variations of one character) but now all i can afford is just to pick one version and like it as its all i can really afford if i am to pick up others...
sad.. but that's 1/6 now..

1 definitive version for one character... owell

After a great amount of thought, and calling one of my buddies, I choose to buy TFA Cap on Friday. I think I'm going to pickup Hawkeye soon too.

This new figure is a fail in everyway. The sculpt, the accessories, the price... and I don't know why but the costume looks like crap. Evans looks awesome in the film, but this figure looks like ten kinds of NOT awesome. Epic fail Hot Toys.

God... I hope Widow looks good.

I agree, I have bought one figure just because of too many other obligations and space I have to buy sparingly, so when I say Ill wait to see what other version comes out I don't feel I should be bashed by others who might be in a better position to buy than I am in. I was patient with the Thor figure, knowing another would follow and I might be much happier with, which I can see so far I was right to wait.

there are so many more marvel movies coming out in the next few years..

ironman 3, captain america 2, thor 2, antman

gonna wait to see ht's versions of those movies which wld mean wayyyyyy higher price and maybe little bit of increase in quality

i think the only versions that may not be done again are hulk, maybe hawkeye, bw and to a lesser extent nick fury

ironman will come like ants in an ant farm and cap will come again just as thor will...

The "just don't buy it" statement for this figure isn't a solid arguement as the increased price will likey apply to more and more future figures.

Prices going up is inevitable, but prices going up after already going up in short spaces of time makes leads to more questions than answers.

Love that the neck and head are one piece.
Getting rid of joints is always a win.

I love the range of movement on TFA Cap, to me getting rid of joints is nearly always a loss.

Figures need joints, otherwise they are not articulated figures and we might as well buy statue instead :lecture

Because they are so predictible with their licenses, you feel it's okay to skip this in favour of the next version. Which itself will lose HT sales on this one :lol, thats what they get from their customers knowing a new one will come along.

Hot Toys must be rubbing the hands with all the money they can make from those upcoming films.:nana:

That isn't necessarily true, the Captain America sequel will probably be very different due to a totally different Art team and film crew than Avengers.

Darth Con I agree, It does feel like they are basing the price on the demand of the character/franchise and not the content itself. Especially when you compare to something like New Goblin figure, which had almost same amount of stuff. 2 head sculpts, weapons, 2 pairs of hands, large base and a light up feature. All for less than Cap. And this was just last September
