Just re watched ASM today and its starting to grow on me. Was better the second time round. If this figure ever sees the light of day, I may be tempted.

WTH?! :rotfl:lol:rotfl

I wonder why they never even talked about doing a Lizard figure?

A huge disappointment IMO. I think the Lizard would have been a wonderful 1/6 figure and a blown opportunity by HT! Its not like they had a ton of other characters to pick from in TASM either. If they can do a Chitauri (Great sculpt too, BTW), I know tooling for a Lizard figure isn't out of the question either. :monkey2

whats funny is its the "real" members here i see most talking **** about things that don't pertain to the topics and should be taken to pm's since they go beyond simple name calling and into personal insult territory :lol

Amazingly, and hilariously, you prove your own point. :rotfl

@ Gage. A 1:6 Lizard would be cool indeed, but then I suppose we get to the same question that runs through many threads at the moment...would it have exposed joints or would they be rubber?

And whilst a Lizard would be cool, now that we have seen from the Iron Man Gantry set that they could do it...why did we never get a Doctor Octopus?

1/6 Lizard would make for an awesome villian in the spidey universe

But I really really have my fingers crossed that Venom shows up in the next movie so HT can finally release a 1/6 Venom, oh my dreams will come true then...

"In the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series, the similarities are a lot closer. The Venom symbiote is a creation of Doctor Octopus (working for Norman Osborn) based on a blood sample left behind by Spider-Man during a battle. That symbiote sought to be reunited with its genetic source (Spider-Man) but when rejected by Peter it found a new source: Harry Osborn.

Harry used the suit to become a new Spider-Man (to impress his father) but eventually the suit twisted him into becoming Venom. Harry-Venom would go on to attack his own father (Norman Osborn), then unite with his father (Venom and Green Goblin) to battle Spider-Man – but eventually Harry was “cured” by serum injected into him by Peter. One can easily see how this cartoon continuity could fit into the Amazing Spider-Man movie universe."

Probably because they would have to make an entirely new body. Lizard was pretty huge too. With all that he'd be at least the price of Avengers Hulk, and sadly I doubt Lizard would sell very well.

I'd buy one though :monkey2

Which I think you may be correct. This figure hasn't been selling fast as far as I can tell. But then again, its not like this is HT's first IM figure either. Too much work into a Lizard I suppose and too much risk. But I too, would buy one. :(

They might just skip this now, who knows? With all of the love for the suit from the next movie they could decide to invest productions costs into more of a sure thing.

I'd love a Lizard. But IMO, licenses/figures like X-Men, Spiderman, Superman and a few others are not as popular or profiable in HT eyes. Many members here post how HT is all about the money. Maybe there were 8000 Joker 2.0 sold. And 10,000 Mark VII's were sold. If Amazing Spiderman was at 2000 sales, why would HT bother making a lizard assuming that fewer than 2000 would buy him?

Again, these numbers are simple speculation, but if HT is all about the money, they'd make whatever would be profitable. I personally have to assume when they don't make a specific character, they've done the research to find out whether or not it would be profitable. Of course, they've certainly made mistakes ( New Goblin for one ), but their closed mouth mentality will never show us behind the curtain.

No way, this is coming this summer. They have spent too much time and money on it to ditch it now. Besides which (and as I and many others have said previously) this is SPIDER-MAN, one of the top three most popular and recognisable superhero in the world, so a high quality 1:6 scale action figure of him is going to sell.

Not to mention the difference in his suit, which is going to make him a more unique purchase in the long run. The ASM-II suit is fantastic too, but anyone that already has the SM-III red/blue spidey will think twice before getting another suit so similar.

Would love a Lizard figure.

I don't get the hate for the character, he was adapted almost pitch perfect from the comics. His look was Lizard just not the dinosaur snout version and he was the most deadly villain of the 2012 CBM villains

:dunno

Cracks me up when people complain that a business is "all about the money". I agree with you 1000%. They only have so many resources, if they can put those resources into something that will make them more money, why wouldn't they?

I've only been collecting for a little over a year, and the whole way that Hot Toys works is fascinating to me. It's so different. They announce a figure, actually put it up for sale 6-12 months before it comes out. Then they have the opportunity to sit there and analyze those sales. If they presell 5,000 of one figure and 750 of another.....it tells them exactly where to put their resources.

What about when they spend money on a license, announce a figure and don't put it up for order?

That's straight up losing money

Most businesses make mistakes and lose money at some point. Bottom lines are what matter most. Most also incorporate loss into profit percentage. No one but HT knows why they pay for licenses and make no figures from them. Unfortuantely Nova, you seem to only like the characters from licenses they make very few figures from or don't make any figures at all. And you also voice displeasure with the 2 licenses they make the most use of. Like it or not, thats how it is. HT has, does and will probably in the near future, make plenty of Batman, Iron Man and Avengers related figures. And we'll see very few or no figures from Spiderman, X-Men, Green Lantern.

I'll be curious to see how far they go with MOS. Howard claimed that MOS will be their focus coming up. Who knows what that means. They made 4 figures from Superman Returns. Lets hope they go at least that deep with MOS.
