I want this figure. I am still getting this figure because I know how exactly I am going to pose him.

I have a spare ASM head coming from Hong Kong that I won on eBay and I am going to remove the mask and have it for him to hold in his hand. This also gives me the possibility of using my bootleg AG sculpt too, so posing options will not be too limited just a bit less dynamic.

I know exactly how limited this figure's range of movements will be and yes it does point straight at a terrible combination of poor quality and bad planning. So yes, it does indeed disappoint greatly. I have the two previous SM-III figures and whilst they are not perfect, they are truly amazing to pose. Strange how this particular 1:6 scale world turns.

Yeah I find it ironic how the Medicom one isn't fragile at all and this one is. Medicom was always known for producing fragile figures that break from a simple movement of arms, now Hot Toys figures are the ones that are fragile and Medicom figures are the ones that are not, well in this case they are not. Nevertheless, can't wait to see your custom figure. ;)

I don't understand, don't HT sell a large quantity of these figures to people with eBay stores?

Surely that's where most people get their items, eBay?

Obviously HT aren't too fussed becasue they still get paid and don't have to take any responsibility

As for the eBay seller, as people have said, can we really expect those guys to take on the responsibility of going back to their point of sale? Which would surely be HT's? Right?

I don't know what is the right or wrong answer to this, if it were a brick and mortar store, you would go back in

It's still a store, is it simply because it's on eBay that we assume the seller shouldn't have to go back to point of sale?

Thoughts on this guys?

The simple answer is Hot Toys just doesn't want to deal with this. They are washing their hands of the problem. They tell people to get theirs from Sideshow so they let Sideshow deal with the problem and not them.

I get that, but if i went to forbidden planet for example, they would have to have bought their stock from somewhere, presumably an official vendor

if i buy something from Goodshipped, presumably he also bought it from an official vendor

So why do we not expect those guys to take the faulty products back? That's what I don't get, because if he want back to HT, they coun't really argue about it, he got it from them

It's not the sellers fault any more than it is forbidden plants, but surely they have some responsibility as a seller? we seem to excuse the guys from eBay of this

Perhaps it's something that should be changed, I dunno

My Spidey arrived in the UK this morning, hopefully have him in the next day or two. And despite its faults, I'm really looking forward to getting him.

EBay sales are covered under their terms & conditions. Whether an eBay seller should accommodate buyer requests to act as the middleman between them & HT (or official vendor) for a figure replacement, is more of a customer service issue. If the seller obliges, cool, if not, they have the right to simply give you a full refund. It would be the seller's decision, not obligation. Of course the more popular eBay HT sellers might have a bunch in their own stock that they could replace your figure with as well, if they choose to. The only thing I think the buyer has a right to in this type of situation, if they don't want to keep the faulty figure, is a refund.

I was wondering... Those shoulder joints are secured by screws, right? So do you think it could be possible to unstitch the suit on about 1 cm under each arm, loosen the screws and restitch the suit.

Might solve the problem, don't you think?

They aren't secured by screws. The bit that beaks is attached through the body, you would have to take off suit, open up body, put new arms on and then sew up suit.

I know, but what I mean is the up down movement, the ratchety one, that one is usually secured by screws ( at least, it used to be on the older TT s if I remember correctly), so what I mean is if we could access those screws and loosen them, then the stress on the breaking part would be less important.

But of course, I don't really know the exact type of body that's inside... :(

It is my understanding that goodshipped buy his figures direct from Hot Toys as well as buying the VIP ones from Hong Kong stores which he charges a lot for since he had to pay retail price to get them. I knew someone that use to get replacements from Hot Toys because he bought direct from them. So you are right I don't get why the seller themselves can't order replacements from them. Maybe it's just because Hot Toys just refuses to do it now and just want's Sideshow to deal with the mess. :dunno

Honestly thats the risk with ebay stores IMO. They are not the same as an etailer. If say BBTS was selling on ebay I would hold them responsible for a replacement for sure. But any person can get a hold of something and sell it on ebay. I understand HT position as far as not replacing through non official means. It is a pretty standard policy.

If you are afraid of QC issues simply buy through a official retailer and that wont be a concern anymore. That is why I stick to official retailers.

Do I think HT should address the QC 100 percent. But they can not just take returns from whoever wherever at least not to start. Maybe they will
eventually handle it like they did leaky batmans.

EDIT:

Yea I agree with this as I said above. Official vendors should be held responsible because manufacturers have a responsibility to them. They will work to replace or resolve the issue with an official vendor

I think the ebay vendor in that case needs to reach out to Hot Toys not the consumer. If they are official HT should respnd to say goodshipped. They will not work with the consumer because they could lie about where they get them from etc.

Funny!

I don't even have 700 posts yet.

You, on the other hand.....and still can't write.

You should know better.

Anyway. I'm glad I was right about this figure. If SSC ships it to me, I'll just keep breaking this fu$&er until they have no option but to give my points back.

Yesssss.
They'll never give you your points back and really, all this fuss over $100.00 worth of points? *shrugs* Just grow up and sell it MISB and you should be able to break even or close to it. It's not that big a deal.

This looks like it may become a huge issue for Hot Toys, if most people who get this have broken shoulders within a day of owning the figure its going to go over like a fart in church. Considering the idea that hot toys will have produced anywhere from 3000-10000 units and the fact that a least 50% of them broke day one its going to be a nightmare. I say contact your ebay sellers, contact etailers, and contact Hot Toys and flood them with the complaints. Otherwise this will not get corrected.

I'm hoping they got wind of this and will delay the US/UK release and correct it before sending them out. I have not received a sideshow charging soon email yet so maybe that could be the case.

You can't say "I was right" bc of a QC issue with the shoulders you or anyone else had no idea was coming. You were complaining about how it looks, and those who have it in hand say it looks great. You can't be "right' where others are concerned regarding an opinion that is yours.

The only one I give a damn about.

I can complain all I want, thank you very much.

Now mind your own business.

To be fair, your complaining about someone complaining about your complaining. It has to stop somewhere :peace :rotfl

In any case, as disappointed as I was initially with the figure, it has grown on me quickly. I'm still not fan of his skinny arms but it is a nice figure and is easily admirable. The shoulder issue is a damn friggin shame.

ASM figs...as much a mess as the movie. :lol

Hope all companies learn from this and make great ASM2 figs. :lecture

Wonder how much a broken fig will sell for
Should be plenty out there unless people refuse to move them

I guess it can still be articulated from the waste down :lol

it'd be kinda like a Lord of The Dance Spiderman... :rotfl

In any case I still can't wait to get it in hand and... well... just stand it there

Wooooooo!!!

I just got the Medi last week. While it's a good figure you can't really pose it. Feels like the suit is going to rip at the seams.
