Anyone bought one of these sculpts and tried it on their mark 7?

I bought that one. It's not the best. Oddly what bothers me the most is the shape of the head. It's a little too flat top to bottom and just doesn't look like the right shape on the mark VII. It works but it doesn't have the same overall effect as the hot toys head sculpts.

Here's a picture of my workshop head. Should be very similar...

Wow. Completely blown away by this figure. So glad I'm selling the mark 3 on. The mark 7 is far better. And I've gotta say it, I prefer plastic to the diecast! I've ended up selling all my diecast iron man figures and all I have now are a mark 7 and a silver centurion!

Congrats on getting him! Definitely an awesome figure (not to mention my personal favourite IM figure) :)

I still plan on picking the III up at some point, so it's a shame it doesn't seem to be quite as good as the VII.

But yeah, the VII is a great figure, congrats on getting hold of one. The paintwork looks far nicer than the III's in that photo. I actually recently bought a dynamic stand for my VII, so now I can display in flight poses. It was a great purchase.

Still my favorite Iron Man armor/figure as well. The only thing that makes him better is picking up the re-done head with the smaller eyes from the workshop accessory set. Then I'd say he's damn near perfect.

Interesting, I wasn't aware the workshop accessories set had a redone Mark VII head. I might need to get on that, as I've always felt it looks a bit too wide-eyed.

Do you have any comparison pictures of the 2 heads?

Everyone's got different tastes, I actually like the Mk3 DC more than the Mk7 in my collection. I'm keeping the Mk7 for my Avengers lineup but will probably trade him out for the next Avengers IM suit I like, so far haven't been impressed with the AoU and CW designs though.

That new head is one thing I've been wanting to get for ages, haven't seen one for reasonable price yet though.

The face mask itself is what was improved. If you can find the workshop accessories set, get it. This is currently the cheapest one I could find on ebay.

I bought one from Sideshow for retail when it was released, then was able to get 2 more from ebay. One for $90 and one for $60. The $60 one was awesome. The guy bought it to take photos, and resold it. Buy It Now for $60. It was 100% complete and perfect. If you don't want to keep all the parts, you can part it out on ebay. The tables are selling anywhere between $45 - $90, so you can recoup most of your money right there. Just be sure you're buying the Workshop Accessories helmet if you buy loose. There is also the Mk VII helmet that comes with the Armor Testing Workshop set. You don't want that one.

Thanks for the help and advice. I really don't want the full set, as its too much to spend on accessories I don't want or need with no guarantee of getting my money back. Yeah, I almost bought one of those by accident last year, luckily the seller was really understanding and gave me my money back when I asked if I could cancel! If he'd have already sent it off then it might have been a different story.

Thanks!

First three are the pics I had found long ago that made me decide to get it. I got lucky and picked it up parted out for $24 if I remember correctly.

I tried taking a pic of me holding original head next to accessory set head I have on figure but didn't look so good. Was hard to get them even. I have the original head on a stand that also came with accessory set. I picked up 3 of them for $11 each. Cool little stands perfect for displaying the alternate heads.

It really is much better and makes a big difference. Too bad my MKVIIBD is stuck with the big eyes..

I don't have a Mark 7 anymore to compare, but I seem to recall the Mark 3 (diecast) and Mark 7 faceplates being almost identical. I swapped the faceplates on the two figures' heads, and they fit fine (the magnets were the only issue). So if you can't find an accessory set Mark 7 head, perhaps the Mark 3 head could be worth tracking down (you just need the faceplate anyways).

Does anyone know if the illuminating helmet from the Pepper Potts set would work? Is the helmet removable or does that helmet have a neck joint?
