Yes he does have the gold thighs after the he kills the leviathan, you can see them more clearly when he's laid on the floor before hulk wakes him up.

After he fires off the rockets inside the creature the silver housing drops off.

Your wrong, the silver thighs housing are still there..... until Stark delivered the nuke and was falling down through the portal, where/when all the modular parts are ejected (forearms/shoulder/jet pack/chest cover/thighs are ejected) at one go.... Hulk caught a mostly red/gold Iron Man.

That's the best i can do, at about 10 seconds in you can see the gold thighs, though i think the person above may be right about the silver panels coming off in space rather than inside the leviathan like what i said earlier.
