I don't consider it lucky or scoring if you have to pay nearly double the retail for a figure that released less than a month ago.

dont think so, bcuz i just spent $595 free shipping on ebay from last week, I got him yesterday

If people want to buy this figure for whatever $ they should be able to enjoy it without being ridiculed. To each his own, obviously they are limited and if it's wanted that much sometimes you have to overpay.

I was able to get one when they went up but obviously I was in the minority. If people want the item, and are comfortable with the cost, Who are we to make them feel like they overpaid?

You may find yourself in their shoes one day if you haven't already.

I think MrHector is a new collector like me. I just got into the Hobby in June of this year. When I tried to get on the wait list it says no shipping to U.S. I called SSC and they told me when a pre order wait list gets to a certain point they stop shipping to that region. She told me if I had an address in the EU then I would be able to get put on the wait list. MY only option was to buy one for 520 from a member here....

All I'm saying is don't forget us new collectors that never had a chance. Now I pre order everything I want to own. This way I don't have to pay the secondary market prices.

I'm in the same boat with this guy. Wish i wasn't. I MIGHT pay up to $400 for it, but having a MKVIi EX already, i don't think i will.

I'm fairly new too. I missed on the Mark VI Movie promo as well. But just because I missed on him, does not mean I have to pay a premium just to join the party. Screw that.

There will be more armors in the future. That's just common sense.

$550 for a figure that had a retail sticker of $295 is not a deal, NEVER.

And this comes from someone who might be considered by some, a "scalper".

Hey, to each his own. But you can't say NEVER. Right now, i would consider $400 a steal for a Vito Corleone figure. That retailed for like $130 and i doubt we'll ever get another one from Hot Toys. What is considered a "deal" is based on current market trends, not the original msrp, which, after original stock has sold through to consumers, becomes null.

Now, THAT'S a score! You are so lucky you ended up paying more than double for him!

Congratulations!

a blowout...but nonetheless a score. :horror

Having the right to have an opinion on what is right or acceptable, doesn't mean that it can't not be considered ridiculous. And be open about it. Overpaying on a TOY is ridiculous TO ME.

Keep how much you pay to yourself and enjoy your figure. Otherwise expect people to let you know what they think.

There's no toy in the world that would make me pay double or triple the amount it was originally priced at. But then again, that's just me.

If SSC had originally priced the BD Mk7 at $500 would you pay it?

Serious question, since you seem to tie the value of a figure directly and only to the msrp. There are MANY and more people who would look at you paying $300 for it at retail and say you are overpaying a ridiculous price. Cost is a relative thing.

None of those concepts (flawed ones IMH) apply to me. If I missed on something, that's it. I missed. If I can get a deal down the road that is financially viable to my way if thinking, I'll go for it. But to an extent. These are toys, keep that in mind.

Personal opinions seem to bother a lot of you around here, but when someone comes out and says:" I just spent $600 on a BD IM" it makes me think that what they are expecting is a pat in the back.
No. Sorry.

That's fine but I this is what I think. I think you have the right to say what you did and so do I. I think you should lay off people and what they give for something and keep that to yourself. If you think that they should keep some things to themselves then you should follow your own advice and do the same.

Absolutely not. Not many would have. I bought Iron Monger, all batmobiles, and yes, they were a pretty penny. Cost can be relative, but it is what it is.

Not really down to the msrp, but keep in mind this figure JUST came out. What else do you compare it to?

Again, people are free to spend their money and overpay however they want. There's some of us who happen to be open about the fact that is utterly ridiculous to do so. What's the problem?

Enjoy the figure, and let's move on.

So, if I were to say: I got three of these and I flipped the hell out of them for $1000 a piece.

Should I EXPECT sympathy from people? No, I'll get flamed in seconds. Therefore I'd keep that to myself.

Same scenario.

Peace.

Same in your mind. I'm done waiisting my time . Believe what you want but if you get what you give don't be surprised.

Well you compare it to auctions that started out at $.99, since those are purely based on what buyers are willing to pay (assuming there are no shenanigans). Also compare it to past, similar releases like the MkVI promo figure. It having only been out a few weeks doesn't mean much in this case since it's already been sold out for months and months and we know ssc won't be doing another run. But yes, fervor could break down and price drop later, that's how these things tend to go.

1) figure sells out on preorders
2) figure release, people panic spend a ton
3) secondary market gets flooded, hype dies down a month later, price drops for about 6 months
4) figure becomes rare on secondary market and prices goes back up

I've watched this exact pattern go on over and over and over. If you miss out at retail price on something, wait about a month or two and then buy on secondary market.

I paid 520 total to the seller.. The price shipped to him from SSC retail was 320. Paypal took 20.00 of the sale. The Shipping to me insured was another 20.00. In reality the seller made 160.00 cash and I paid 200 over retail.
I'm content with that because I wanted the figure. Is this toy worth 500.00 NO....Is this figure work 320.00 NO. These are not worth the money we spend on them. I have been watching the Mark VI prices since I started in this hobby. It was a retail 189.00 figure selling between 450-600.00 now depending on where you buy from. Nobody wants to overpay, but I feel any figure that is limited like the BD version will most likely stay at the 500.00 mark for awhile.

Mine are still sealed also. Just haven't had much time to open. Too many projects going on at the time being.

Same here. I'm finishing up moving in the next few days. Hopefully I can start my own photography sometime next week.

So glad I was able to keep the BD Mark VII. Thought I might have to sell it for a while, but luckily it gets to remain part of the collection. The base really is something special and helps justify the otherwise high price of this guy.

NICE!!!! :hi5:

it's never worth the retail price or PO price anyway but we still buy them because we want/need/have to. To get the figure by any and all means possible. It's sad sometimes you pay double or triple but that is life in every aspect anyways. just enjoy that everyone that wants this can get it!
