Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I initially went with the create pearlized red mixed with some create transparent red to make it a bit darker. But after darkavatar posted it made sense to go for more of a dark maroon metallic. Since the plastic of the "S" is a hard plastic I did a quick small area test with the testors stop light red I have which is a very dark maroon metallic color. It went on just fine with no chemical reaction to the plastic. So a few hours later I went back and did the rest of the symbol. He looks way better now, props to darkavatar for the advice.

You could probably skip the createx paints and go straight for the testors stop light red. I'd do a small area first to see if its the color you want, if not try a small area with the createx pearlized red, then come back and go over it with testors stop light red after it's dried and see how that looks to you. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the compliment man, I glad I could help. ;)

I think HT have made the emblem as it should be based on suit:

But I think this is the effect that we all want to go for:

From the last photo you can also see how correct and pot on Tony's cape is, the way it drapes effortlessly like it almost weighs as light a silk yet durable and of quality.

:exactly:

Hot Toys colors are pretty much dead on to what the suit looks like in real life but not how they appear in the film.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

^ I agree. I think HT nailed the suit. I might dull down the yellow in the striping, but other than painting the collar and gauntlets, I think that's all I'm doing other than the obvios cape upgrade from Tony.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Wow! Just wow! :clap :rock

As always, you've made a figure look so much better and worth spending money on.

I honestly didn't like the proto pics and hence, never intended to get it. Guess I will, now. :)

I almost passed on this also based on the proto. Hot toys every once in a while releases figures that are mediocre and I thought this would be also, so I was seriously considering getting the sideshow PF.
Hot toys truly stepped up, the suit, the body, the sculpt...its fantastic.
Truly think this is one of the best hot toys has released.

Ok I'm stoked! Mine's coming this month, hopefully, but since I only have one preordered, I'm going to need to get my hands on another one to try out these mods. Great mods so far guys!

To all who are still considering modding this guy, take it from a man who keeps his figures boxed up all the time, if I can muster the courage to mod my DX12 then surely everyone else can as well.

Yea, I am actually quite comfortable doing mods but I can say this one can be nerve racking.
But, the end results brings it to another level.

Tony's cape is amazing looking in Remy's picture.

Thank you. And as always, Tony is the master when it comes to capes.
Tony's looks like a 1:1 full scale cape, it drapes beautifully. It complements so well with the figure.

Agreed! Fantastic work Remy! :hi5:

Thanks man. :duff

Great Job Remy...

Thank ya sir.

To buy a cape from Tony Meis, you must follow a series of subtle clues and solve ten riddles, each more fiendish than the last.
The final challenge is a tight rope walk over a fiery chasm with no safety rope. Few survive, and only the most worthy are judged fit to receive a cape from Tony.

Or you could just email him and send some cash his way.

Are you kidding me?
I wish I knew that. I still have massive blisters i can barely walk from the dang tightrope. :banghead
Wish I knew about the email.

:rolleyes2

:)

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Last night, I decided to re-install the custom cape cause I wanted it to be looser around the neck.
Love it!!!! I think it looks better.

Wow! Looks amazing Fernando! I can't wait to get my cape! :)

Great great job! :clap

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Great stuff going on in here...looking real good.

A little late to the party, but Kal finally arrived up my way....quick hot out of the box...

Sculpt is great....outfit scares me a bit...gonna have to be careful with it. Don't want to risk ripping or creasing it with any extreme posing.... Wonder how long a shelf life it'll have?

I'll post more shots later...but am certainly enjoying what I see in here!

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I really like the fact that people are actually putting effort into this guy. Love the way all that neck and little upper chest / traps area are exposed, that is very important, well.....because:

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Agreed. Showing that little bit more neck brings out the likeness of Cavill even more .

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Just in case nobody knew:

'Years before Man of Steel became an international hit, Henry Cavill was attached to star as Clark Kent/Superman in the ill-fated Superman: Flyby, which was written by J.J. Abrams with McG set to direct and Robert Downey Jr. starring as Lex Luthor. The project ultimately fell apart, reportedly because of McG's fear of flying, since Warner Bros. wanted to shoot in Australia and the director opted for an American production. Ultimately, Bryan Singer took the reins and reworked it into the 2006 adventure Superman Returns. Today, we have the first photo of Henry Cavill from his 2004 screen test, plus a photo of the red and blue suit he was wearing.'

'Of course, it turned out just fine for Henry Cavill, but it does lead one to wonder what might have been, especially with a J.J. Abrams script and Robert Downey Jr. as Luthor.'

Now I wonder how that suit would look if it...say...was introduced towards the end of Superman VS Batman movie or maybe down the line in MoS 3. I can just imagine that suit would be AWESOME but obviously the S emblem would be done better then that!

I think it would get people really hyped up especially Batman fans since this suit has some resemblance, but more of a protective Kryptonian body suit that really fits in with the Superman design better.

How interesting and thanks for sharing that. I did not know any of that. :lecture

That suit can stay in Warner's archives gathering dust as far as I'm concerned. Don't fix what ain't broke. The MOS suit was fantastic. That one is nothing but Batman's suit painted blue with an S slapped on it. Superman doesn't need a protective Kryptonian body suit and Henry Cavill certainly doesn't need a sculpted muscle suit.

Totally agree. I love the MOS suit. I hope that in the new movie they don't "tweak" it too much.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Ordered one of these along with one of Tony's capes. Does anyone have a video tutorial on how to do the collar mod? Not sure whether I'm brave enough to attempt it...the pictures don't make it look overly hard but I've never modded a figure before.

"Don't fix what ain't broke".

I guess your're right. I think I may have just lost it there for a sec. Definitely a Bat suit with an S. I think this suit may have even appeared in some comics. Supes has had a lot of costumes in the comics but maybe we need to take a step back and acknowledge that this is how everyone likes him I guess. Maybe I was thinking of some crazy 'super ultimate Ultra Superman' when he becomes even more powerful (as if that wasn't powerful enough)!

Maybe I'm thinking ahead when he gets beaten up by Darkseid, Doomsday, Braniac, or dangerous Ultraman. and then he has to empower himself somehow to defeat the villain/s. He would look for some ancient form of Kryptonian armour such as Jor El's golden armour.

Because the last thing I want to see in a movie is where batman sticks a kryptonite stick in his body to weaken/kill him (he either befriends him or not, I think they will work together though).

Like how Lex Luthor stabbed him in the bum with a piece of Kryptonite in Superman Returns and then said 'so long Superman'.
