Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Great vid fellas! I will be doing the same to mine.

It's weird. After seeing the vid, HT was headed in the right direction, which makes me wonder why the stock figure looks the way it does. Thankfully this simple mod makes the figure shine so much more. I mean, post mod, it's perfect!

The company is a very strange beast when you take in consideration just how close they can get to perfection, but don't. Its like with this figure, I can see the process going like this;

"Great job on the HS, its sublime"
"Thanks Howard, you should take a look at the outfit, it's awesome....however...."
"However what?"
"Well...the collar area, it's placed too high. And the shoulder area looks too puffy. The early design was perfect, so I don't know why (outfit designer) did that instead"
"Oh I told him to do that..."
"....why?"
"Oh i don't know, because I'm the boss? And because I don't know **** you?"
"What?"
"What?"
".....what?"
".....what?"

:lol :lol

I thoight the same thing when I got Bane. I mean i could understand why there was not much weathering on his vest and jacket, but those pants... They must've thought we all were into skinny jeans or something. really should get to customizing a pair, i cringe everytime i look at his pants :lol

Some mid morning shots

Standard museum pose

I think I made the S a little too dark..might have to lighten some areas :slap. Cape needs some adjusting. Maybe I made the collar too low as well..oh well.

"Hey Clark, I got you something for Valentines Day! Why are you laying on the floor?"

Started watching the video this morning but ran out of time. I removed the collars a bit ago but the video is very helpful. Nice to see the mod go thru the motions.

Guys can you reuse the stock cape after the neck mod or must you buy new cape?

Yes. See pics below.

Great work Bar, last pic is excellent!

Thanks a lot. My lousy pics pale in comparison to yours of course.

Genius, lol.

Ladies and Gentlemen.
I present my first attempt at a custom with this MOS figure.
Ian Smith from the UK facebook trading group sold me a MOS suit and stand this week(Including gauntlets, but not including boots, hence the SR boots till my MOS boots get here).
I was sure i would use it as a test bed to see if i could downsize the MOS a bit, and also to try the collar mod.
First of all i cut off all the tabs from the S and belt that attach them to the MOS body. I removed the collar carefully as per the vid, discarded the bottom part and removed the useless parts of the upper one. Then i took a spare TTM20 and suited it up. After sizing the shape of the collar, i removed the parts i wouldn't need and glued on the collar again and re-attached the stock cape with dressmakers pins.
As i say, try and ignore the SR boots. They will be replaced with authentic MOS boots in a few days.
Here are the pics.

Looking good buddy! :clap

Are you going to get a Mei cape and please replace those boots with the real MOS boots when you get them. Look too much like Kal is digging for clams on a boat :lol

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

I have two Tony Meis capes ordered.
And if you read my post you will find out about the boots.

I did read the post..that's why I said when you get the boots in..definitely swap them. Didn't mean to upset you :dunno

That looks awesome. Really promising. However the neck is too long on the shorter body...and the hips stick out too much.

If only I can see how the upper torso is attached to the lower portion (abs and stuff). Im thinking about shortening the stock body.

It's great that the suit doesn't look baggy on the shorter body. Gives me hope.

It's a great mod, and looks the part.

Waist size and such can't be helped. I just wanted to see how it looked on the TTM20. It will be better with the proper boots. But i like it.
Sorry about the neck.
I hadn't pushed the head all the way down till it popped onto the joint... Doh!

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Just got Tony's cape in today and I'm extremely very happy how it turned out. It really drapes so well. I really have to encourage those that are still on the fence to go the extra mile and do the mod and get the cape.

The cape mod turned out great, but the gauntlet and collar paint job put it over the top!! Very nicely done. Did you mix a couple of colors to get what you wanted?
