Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

hey bicoid18.I love how you painted the black cuffs and his neck colar piece.Which paint brand and color name did you use?.Thanks man

Thanks Chieftortuga, Slynger, and Barry! I couldn't find the better brands of acrylic hobby paints, so I just used the cheap stuff that I had on hand from Walmart. I used FolkArt Black and Metallic Blue mixed them until I had the right colour. Drybrushed 3-4 coats to make up for the poor coverage with about an hour drying time in between.

Double J mentioned doing this when he painted his, and I loved how his turned out.

Fancy paints or not, yours turned out very nice. The colors look spot on. Enough to stand apart from the suit and not blend in. Bravo!

Nice Job!:clap

I use those Folkarts, Americana and Art Deco paints from time to time. They work wonders because the paint selection is much greater than the more expensive Tamiya paint which come in handy when I mix colors.

Really appreciate it man. I love the detailing on the piping on yours! I'm not sure if I'm gonna add the finishing touches on my figure because there is no way that my hand is steady enough to even attempt that. :lol Those pics of Supes with Baroness and Selina make me curious if anyone has ever kit-bashed a Wonder Woman using any of those bodies? I know Barry did one of Faora.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Still have an extra unopened one I guess ima part with. If anyone wants it please PM me

That is a thought :lol

Although the TT used for CW is much to small for WW custom iMO, but the Baroness might work, however what I learned from the Baroness's base body is mostly the chest area is the the armor and WW is of course amazonian busty :lol

Just curious with your cuff repaint, did you use more black or more metallic blue? Of course now that I modded two of my MOS, I have an extra set of cuffs to spare. Maybe I'll try the metallic blue/black mix. Is it the lighting in those pics that make it seem like it's almost pearl blue or did you mix any other paints?

No, I just used those two paints. Just metallic blue as a base and mixed in the black bit by bit until I had the colour that I wanted.

Yes. See pics below.

Thanks a lot. My lousy pics pale in comparison to yours of course.

Genius, lol.

Ladies and Gentlemen.
I present my first attempt at a custom with this MOS figure.
Ian Smith from the UK facebook trading group sold me a MOS suit and stand this week(Including gauntlets, but not including boots, hence the SR boots till my MOS boots get here).
I was sure i would use it as a test bed to see if i could downsize the MOS a bit, and also to try the collar mod.
First of all i cut off all the tabs from the S and belt that attach them to the MOS body. I removed the collar carefully as per the vid, discarded the bottom part and removed the useless parts of the upper one. Then i took a spare TTM20 and suited it up. After sizing the shape of the collar, i removed the parts i wouldn't need and glued on the collar again and re-attached the stock cape with dressmakers pins.
As i say, try and ignore the SR boots. They will be replaced with authentic MOS boots in a few days.
Here are the pics.

Bar, I got to stop reading your post. Its getting expensive. I contemplated getting a spare MOS suit because I didn't think it would look good on a smaller figure. Well, I saw your post and ended up ordering a spare. I'm going to see it will work on a TT 19 with a modified chest if need be. This cures the height problem.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

If only a company made a smaller scale Henry Cavil sculpt as good as HT or Head Plays (which I got and have regretted because it is too big for what I plan to do).

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

After watching Clipperking's review I had to do his mod to my cape. You basically (very easily) cut a small hole in your cape and run a wire inside of it. It now looks fantastic!!!

Just a quick pic with minor futzing.

Amazing work. It looks the business!

It's a pity. A normal sized head would have meant endless ways to make customs. It looks like they were so upset everyone complained at how big the body was in the proto images, they didn't change the body, they made the head bigger...

I think it might sag a bit on the TTM19. But you can always try and pull in the slack at the rear when you sew it up.

I got the MOS boots in the post today. So, until my Tony cape arrives, i am done with this thing for now.

Haven't been on here in a few days. Some really great pics guys . Shows how great this figure is. :)

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

Yep. The pictures are great!

I'm using the flexible stand to help pose the cape. Works quite well.

Re: MMS200 - Man of Steel: Superman Collectible Figure

My Man of Steel arrived yesterday(we got back from dinner just as the UPS truck showed up;timing!).We're quite happy with him, largely because he has no quality issues. My wife is particularly pleased that he has an accurate"bulge"(yes, I know). After looking him over fairly closely, I believe I've figured out the main source for the height issues.I have observed that the ankle joint is quite high in the boot, almost like he's wearing platform lifts.Going to do a little "caliper comparisons"later to see how general body proportions work between this guy and Chris Reeve...PS
