The mod is just using a longer neck peg, right?

No, there's an inner and outer cape collar.
You remove the inner, it's not needed.
You hollow out the outer collar, and glue it closer to the "S" symbol.
There's several videos on youtube how to do it.

I agree, it's something that's highly highly recommended.
The figure is night and day with the collar mod and new cape.

I finally decided to open this today and was excited at how awesome it is (and the control key was an unexpected bonus!) but then the disappointment hit...

Would anyone here accept it like that? I've asked for a full refund

That's disappointing

If you aren't planning to do the collar mod, I would want a refund.

it was the first mod I ever did to one of my Hot Toys figures. it wasn't bad at all and made all the difference. I made it more difficult too by keeping the stock cape intact and reusing it. if you need help there are a couple excellent vids out there too. I'd give it a go but totally understand if you don't. good luck either way

I might be tempted to pick this guy up at a bargain basement price, just on the off chance that Batman V. Superman is good. The Superman designs are so similar that this would be fine as a version from that movie.
