That's awesome, drjedisith! I've got a quick question for both you and Remy: Are certain areas on the suit (for instance, the abs) highlighted with paint to make the muscles appear more pronounced? Or is that just due to the lighting or reflective quality of the paint?

thanks saigon! i believe owen1313 used airbrushing. he did shadow in the darker muscle outlining. but the reflective quality works nice together to make it look very seemless and natural.

BEAUTIFUL!!! :clap
That is "THE" figure that inpired me to paint mine.
Owen did an incredible job!!! I love how he also painted the shield and boots.
I'm glad you finally decided to post pics of your MOS.
Major congratulations my friend. :hi5:

thanks remy! im super impressed with what you did with yours! its just as beautiful as this one. be proud as hell with that one brother :)

Nice!

This looks fantastic.. I don't know if I'm skilled enough to make something like this..

thanks! owen1313 did a tremendous paint job. the cape i made was just some cutting and playing on my end.

I'm not an expert with a sewing machine like Tony Mei, so I had to use a pre-existing costume that I altered to fit the smaller Phicen body. I used the DC Direct Supergirl outfit and tapered in the sides and sleeves. The front emblem was replaced with my own. Also shortened/tapered in the skirt. The boots were also from the Phicen LRRH figure, painted red with vinyl spray paint. And the cape is from the HT Reeve superman, held in place via magnets.

Thanks for the info! If I ever decide to paint my MOS figure, I'll try to do the same to achieve a similar effect. Looks great! :hi5:

owen1313 is a very nice guy. he had a thread on here showing his different versions and what paint he used. im sure you could look at that and go from there. or ask remy how he dominated his :)

Awesome, thanks again for the info! I've already picked Remy's brain on how he made his :lol The only difference was airbrush vs paint brush, but the end results both looked absoluely amazing. I'll probably try doing the mod on my own and will likely use an air brush since Ive always wanted to learn how to use an air brush. Ill practice on something beforehand, of course, but hopefully the end result will look good. Thanks again and congrats on owning such an amazing MOS!

lol there you go. sweet. i look forward to seeing the end product! good luck!

^Thx a lot! Unfortunately, I won't be free to try this mod for at least a couple more months (work is really busy atm). But when I do find the time, I'll be sure to update with pics. Thanks again my friend. :duff

Good eye, you must be an artist to notice that detail. :)
Yes, it was a conscious effort to go over those areas more to highlight the muscles.
My V1 came out smooth as silk, perfect and just one try.
My V2 had to be touched up a couple of times. Specifically the abs and deltoid areas. Once I finished, and placed in the lighted detolf, the details didmt show much,
So I took it back out, and repainted the other areas with lighter color, but once I placed it in the detolf again, it looked too light, so I touched it up again, adding a little more black to my mixed paint to make it look more seemless.
So V2 was a little more effort, but v1 was smooth as silk. All in one try. :yess:
So good to hear you want to do it with airbrush, I think you would have a smoother experience using airbrush.

A really big thanks to Owen for the nice instructions on how he did it.
Just like what drjedisith said, since Owen painted it first with black, once you go over with color, it goes over seamlessly and you just pay a little more attention to the highlighted areas.
Had Owen not share his technique, I probably would have just gone over and paint it with just blue.
The end result wouldn't have looked as nice.

Thank you so much brother, and I really enjoy our chat, and thanks for sharing your Mos pics back then.
I was almost tempted to sell my other MOS but I really love your MOS so I decided to keep it and emulate the paintjob as close as I can.
Please post pics of your newer Tony Meis cape.

I'm not exactly sure, but it seems There's a little difference between my tony meis v1 and v2 cape, and I love how the cape flows on v1 so I'm planning on leaving that alone, but I'm tempted to get his newer cape for my v2.

Thanks again, Remy! You're just a wealth of useful knowledge!! :hi5: I do like to customize and mod my figures, but I definitely would not consider myself an artist :lol Maybe an amateur artist, at best. The only reason I noticed those details on your figure is because I am very particular/borderline OCD with the details on my own figures. I'll only do a mod to a figure if the end result looks like it came that way from the factory, if that makes any sense :lol

Ah, I see what you're saying - about painting the dark/black foundation first. Then it's just a matter of skillfully highlighting a few specific areas with the lighter colors to make them pop. That'd be the much smarter method than painting the entire figure with the lighter color, and then going back and having to mute almost the entire figure since there are only a few areas that you would want to highlight.

I will definitely keep that in mind when I get around to doing the repaint. I'll probably PM you to ask you what brand and color lacquers you used, too lol. Thanks again for letting me pick your brain to pieces. Again, I appreciate the advice and info! Very helpful indeed!

im sure it will look great saigonexpress69!

remy sounds like a true labor of love. the cool thing about just doing it , is that you are forced to make it right, or sink! lol i always keep telling myself, anythings better than what i started with and didnt like about it. i just bought the new superior cape with all the great detailed pleats in it. i was never a fan of tonys original for that very reason. no pleats. so i will post pics when i get it to show how it drapes :wink1:

You're welcome man, always glad to help. :1-1:

Exactly, it is a labor of love, I find it really fun when I do mods, so it is a nice extension to this hobby.
A lot of times, I just lose track of time when I customize and not realize, its 4 or 5 am, and I had to nap real quick before going to work.
And you always feel a little more affinity to that figure knowing you added something to it to make it a little better.

Definitely looking forward to seeing your new cape.
I may upgrade my v2 cape.

guys does anybody have that bootleg body from china?I'm going to order it for my Clark Kent custom. and if you have that body and Clark head, please show me how it fits. I ordered ZY emulated body too.but I already know head will be bigger.that one's shoulders and chest looks bigger.

i used a couple of the bodies you pictured for a custom mos supes and clark ,to be in scale with my other heroes ,and used the 2 different bearded sculpts that are on ebay ,the supes is using the muscle padding thats quoted in this thread a page or 2 back ,they are quite a bit smaller than the mos supes ,as the picture shows ,but work quite well on the body you showed ,hope this helps

you helped me so much ! I ordered that bearded sculpt too ! and I was scared that ZY emulated body would be smaller. this body looks much better on this head !!!!!! more bigger shoulders and chest as I was hoping ! thanks you so much !!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3

no worries mate ,glad they helped you out ,im sure it will all turn out fine and you will be happy with your figure ,those bodies are a godsend at the price and are pretty adaptable
cheers chris

yeah i totally agree with you ,it was more to answer the concerns about the heads fitting the body and show the heads would fit the body than anything else
it will work to a degree ,but its a compromise ,much like the mos body to me it lacks the V shaped upper body and the thickness in the waist area that the empire cover you posted would require ,as for the skinny clark ,might not be so bad with a parka or other clothes to fill it out or cover it up great work on your repaints by the way ,outstanding

I have to disagree about the lack of "V" of the stock MOS body...I posted the empire cover to show that the guy was very buff...and it might not have been the best one to post as an example cause he was also flexing his muscle on that pose.
When not flexing, the guy is still buff and still much more muscular than the custom body.

The HT body's biggest strength is that it emulates Henry's physique well.
This is one of the biggest strengths of this figure that's why I have been so impressed and I believe one of Hot Toy's best.
Not only is the sculpt's likeness one of their best, but the body they used is terrific.
It has an extremely natural look to it.
Which is extremely hard to do specially for a form fitting costume.
It actually looks like a 1/6 human body is in the costume.
The only flaw I see is of course, is its too tall, so you have to pair it up with similar sized figures in your shelf.

But yes, the bodies you posted could work on a heavily clothed Clark Kent.
Oh, and thank you by the way for the compliment on my repaint. :)
