Because P. is always around
Because P. is always around
This thread went to **** quick
For me P2 > P1
Simply bcuz it's a more complicated and interesting story, and characters (even the creature itself) has more development but not too much to ruin the fun. Where original movie was your typical kinda-military-action gone perfect, sequel got improved on every aspect w/o making it same-story-new-script.
I can't watch them separately tho, it's always 212 minutes of pure happiness!
I must admit to finding it strange that you guys prefer the sequel over the original with Predator but to prefer T2 over T1, you probably think is silly.

Cuz T2 is silly.
They took something very stylized and atmospheric... and made it too big to keep it such. (dunno if it makes sense, I hate my Engrish)
I didn't feel this way at first, but now I must say I do prefer T1 over T2. While T2 is the better film in terms of... well, almost everything, T1 is a much easier and smoother watch. I'm not always in the mood for the sequel, but the original is a pleasure to put on every time. Solid pacing, great introduction to the character, and its simplicity is its strength.

I love it as a nostalgia piece and something that we probably will never see again. Not as a good sequel to a solid movie, it is not.
It sounds to me that with Terminator you feel that the original film dictates what a Terminator film should be and yet with Predator the same doesn't seem to apply.
Nothing in P2 contradicts anything from P1 if you watch them both in a row w/ comic-booky glasses off.

Maybe the Terminator being a mechanical character creates an expectation in the audience of how his films should play out. With Predator, we're talking about a living creature. Lots more gray areas to explore with something like that.
WTF, there's only three of them... Doesn't make senseP1 is my favorite, but I'll watch any predator movie with the exception of "Predators".
