Rodriguez and Predators thought they were outdoing the original and ended up falling very short. Atleast the AVP's were something different. And the homages in AVPR were overdone (but you knew by that point if didn't matter because the film's so bad it was good), whereas Predators took itself too seriously and took a dump on the fans.

Agree 100%

Nothing is official but that is as inevitable as the end of the world.

:lol

I have never seen a "film set" so overused as I did in Predators. I'm talking about the Predators camp. And it did not even look good. It was messy with junk and bones everywhere. Predators is a terrible movie. There are way to many homages to make it unique to stand on its own. I am very surprised at how it stuck with the Trio Predator template and using the same blueprint as to how and when each die. AVPR Wolf was great for two reasons - looked badass and was doing something original that we never saw before - clean up!!!!

I think the Wolf has the most character out of any of the Predators we have seen. It's quite cool to see a Predator as something other than a monster, something I think AvP strived to do but failed to do. In a lot of ways he's almost the main protagonist of the movie.

Not to say the movie doesn't have a lot of issues though.

Some great footage of the AVP:R Pred costume:

Wolf looked cool. That was it.

AvP:R was an awful Predator fanboy's wet dream.

What was wolf supposed to be? The most Badass Predator in existence? What did he do for the entirety of the movie? Kill hundreds of aliens? :lol

Did anything else happen? Oh, well there was Ricky and his rough relationship with his brother.

Uhg, Strausetards.

Again, it was something different and it was an AVP movie. As a Predator fan I'd much rather watch Wolf run around like a boss for 90 minutes than watch Rodriguez's Preds show up for a minute then die like pussies.

I think combined falconer and tracker had five mins of screen time. That film is all over the place, I don't hate it but I sure don't love it.

:exactly: Wolf running around like a boss for 90 minutes=awesome and fun, what avp should be.

They did a great homage to a character from the comics (broken tusk) and fanboy wet dream is what most people wanted. Nobody wanted to see anything else happen. If I wanted to see academy award winning acting I wouldn't watch a sci fi monster flick. No predator movie ever made has had good acting, they have all been cheesy exaggerated characters.

Wolf was not in any way, shape or form based on Brokentusk. That would be Scar.

Nobody wanted to see anything else happen.
Is that a joke?

So basically, everyone wanted this awful, predator-focused film that **** upon both franchises with incredibly cheap effects and ridiculously stupid characters directed by two dumbasses whose only prior film experience was directing music videos?

No, I did not want that.

LOL.

You do realize Sigourney Weaver won an Oscar for her performance in Aliens, and H.R. Giger won an Oscar for his effects/designs in Alien, right?

Predator had outstanding acting from the entire cast. In Predator 2, we had great acting from most of the main characters (minus a few). Then in Predators, we have Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody pull off a fantastic performance that no one could imagine him doing.

The fact that AvP:R is even allowed to exist is a huge insult to the two iconic sci-fi characters, and the men who created them.

If you want to watch bad movies, and don't believe the Alien or Predator universe deserve any better, you need to find a new franchise to latch onto.

The franchise is not titled "Predator kills Aliens over and over and over and over omglolzbbqq13-year-oldfanboywetdream"

The franchise is titled "Alien versus Predator".

That is all.

And this right here is why these movies are doomed to fail. Instead of getting an Aliens vs. Predator movie we end up with another lacklustre Predator movie.

Pretty much. So many silly ADD predafanboys that have no respect for the source material.

This is why I try to steer clear of the A&R section.

Resurrection at least had a lot of potential and an actual story. Not just mindless bull**** like AvP:R.

Surely you agree that AvP:R was an abomination, Goose...

I still watch and enjoy the movie, but it's clear as day that it's just an awful film. It's down there with Bayformers and Twilight quality.

Yeah I agree. Although the fanboy in me loves Wolf (I can't change that :D). However my point the other day was that I'd still prefer to watch AvP:R over Predators though, maybe it's because of Wolf, maybe it's because Predators is a load of BS...:dunno

I would say Wolf is the only redeemable factor in the "film" for me, but that would be a lie because half the time you can't even see him. :lol

I've always thought he had a killer design.

I thought you liked Predators when it came out?

It was ok when it came out, it was a new Predator film so there was bound to be some buzz around it. I was disappointed leaving the cinema for the first time however the second viewing was slightly better. I did get a cool looking Hot Toys Tracker figure from it I suppose.:lol

The thing with AvP:R was that The Strause Brothers had no idea how to make a film in the first place. Fox should have never hired them or Salerno in the first place. They probably did they best their talents could manage with a crap script and in the end probs played to the fact that they were both Predator fanboys and just had a hard on making Wolf and carried on from there. To be fair, Wolf does have a big following now.

In contrast with Predators, Fox gave RR control and he ended up making a dull and funless Predator film that added nothing new to the Predator story (the blood feud could have been good but it was poorly executed and the fight was pathetic). Oh and the fact that he kept on saying in his interviews that his Preds were bigger & better than the original was just BS.:monkey4

Larja, scar is nothing like broken tusk, scar was an unproven kid, broken tusk was an older veteran of many hunts who moved fluidly and didn't make stupid mistakes, and he had lost one of his mandibles just like wolf. The only thing broken tusk had in common with scar was he teamed up with a woman.

I agree, a lot of what we saw in Predators could have (and should have) been handled much better.

I see it as a "good enough" new entry to get the Predator franchise back in theaters, though it seems that all of the sequel talk close after the film's release was just that - talk. :dunno

Regarding the Strausetards, I'd say they're still clueless. Have you seen Skyline? :lol
