Here's my Predator collection and I'm passing:

Original
Predator 2 Battle Damaged
Predator 2 re-release
Lost
Guardian
Shadow
Classic
AvP Elder
Celtic
Scar re-release
Predator 2 Elder
Berserker
Falconer
Tracker
Nice collection, a year from now I think you'll have this in your collection one way or another.

I don't really think it's fair to blame Hot Toys for this really. The listed price for all three Toy Fairs figures was HKD 1,680 when this first went up on the website (which oddly enough, has been deleted from their news archive. The ad pic of all three are still there though). That comes out to about $216 USD just like all the others, just like the ones from last year.

It's possible that it's just Sideshow jacking up the price since they're distributors and they can dictate what they want.

In b4 the "I'm a hardcore fan of this _____, it's a must buy even if the price is ridiculous".

While I agree with the sentiment that "voting with our dollars" doesn't really help in the long run, I do think the compulsion of collectors that don't appear to have a limit or a spending ceiling are part of the problem. How can Sideshow/Hot Toys resist when people are willing to throw down the cash at any price? Even a price that they don't agree with?

Same deal with the complaints against scalpers. I never understood why people blame them for up-charging on the secondary market when there are people out there that have no qualms about throwing down $400 or $500 for a "rare" doll that used to be $140-$200. The consumer is the problem.
What other company is releasing 1/6 predator figures?

You either pay the ridiculously high prices, or you don't have a 1/6 predator collection.

The consumer isn't trying to raise Hot Toys' prices any further, he simply has no other option.

If there was another company producing 1/6 predator figures of the same quality for a lower and fair price, and the consumer still bought from Hot Toys, then it would be his fault.

In both scenarios though, HTs' constant price increasing is a real douchey move.

I don't buy for a second anyone with a serious Predator collection will pass on this b/c it will cost them what amounts to an extra tank of gas compared to a prior release.

this guy will, fully knowing that 6 months from now this will be on double rewards or some other discount offer on SSC. Even if it somehow sells out, I still much prefer Chopper

Is it Hot Toys though? I'm not being an apologist, I'm just asking. They do **** that bugs me and I think their recent practices have sucked . . . BUT, their prices for these three figures were listed as HKD 1,680 for the collectors in Asia, the same price for the figures last year.

Are you talking about the Toy Fair exclusives specifically? Their recent predator releases (Scar, Celtic, City Hunter 2.0) have all been overpriced IMO. Whether that's because of Sideshow or it's HT's actual price I don't know.

I believe the prices in Asia were significantly lower compared to Sideshow's final $215 price on last year's summer exclusives. I think they're raising prices over there and Sideshow's raising their prices to match the same price ratio they've had for some time now.

The odds of this being double rewards on SSC is pretty low. Predator sells like hot cakes for Hot Toys just like Dark Knight and Iron Man figures, a TF exclusive figure from any of these lines won't hang around long I'd think. MISB Toy Fair Batman from 2011 is going for $400+ currently, which I think is a fair comparison. Best of luck to you if you do wait though, don't like to see anyone kicking themselves later down the road.

Toy Fairs Shadow Predator was hyped up in the beginning but ended up lasting for a good long while.

Secondary market prices are really low for it too, much lower than the original MSRP (shipping pending).

No freakin' way! Hope this goes to clearance so I can get one.

Preordered, not happy about the crazy price, but I love these bio designs and the alien head on spear and since I want every 2.0 avp/avpr pred I didn't really have a choice. It did help that I had $40 in rewards to put towards this. The price is crazy tho, anyone who isn't a big avp collector will easily pass on these, dumb move on hot toys part.

Preordered--price is a little high but I'm not going to take a stand and not buy it thinking it will change anything. I want the figure when it is released and this is what it costs. I didn't buy Scar and Celtic so this will be my definitive Predator to represent the film in my collection.

Unfortunately that's how business works, the price for retailers is always higher.

Pretty much, yes.

And POs from a company with questionable reputation when it comes to price-quality and even QC.

there will be plenty of these figures left over where in the next 6 months everyone will be able to get one at a fair price point.

I am a huge Predator fan as well and can honestly say IMO nothing about this release that warrants the $300 price tag being asked.

Dudes come one...........even the Elder 2.0 is WAY less than this and 3 times the figure with new sculpts, accessories etc.

HT/SS can ask what they want but I draw the line when I feel the item being sold is worth less in my eyes. I have no issue with not adding to my collection right away because I know like all HT releases at some point I will have it for the price I am willing to pay. Thats half the fun of collecting.

For the same price I just bought the entire SS Twilight Zone collection. Something I have been looking into getting for about the last few months.

Another big FU to HT. You are rubbing the wrong people the wrong way. Keep knocking out lame Iron Man figures, and more comics book rehashes and ignore those of us.

No fears where you neglect one part of the market another will be there to pick it up. The proof is in the pudding many other companies like ACI, DID etc are setting their sights on licences that will produce great figures for a fraction of HT's prices.
