I would like to apologize in advance for the topic that's currently keeping this thread on top but please blame HT. It's their fault for taking their sweet time with releasing Buck.

LOL. And w. apologies to Sebastian Stan who said something about if the only thing people were paying attention to was his hair, he wasn't doing his job....:clap:clap:clap

But. Waiting...:impatient:anyway, love the longer hair on Bucky. Hope they keep it...AND the metal arm. Was reading about a comic and an "arm upgrade" where so, in the story the "upgrade" arm has cloaking that can make it look normal and also the "upgrade" is "sentient" and can move about. By itself.:horror

For me, right now, anyway - er, no. And then I couldn't get past the idea of the "upgrade arm" having Anthony Mackie's voice. Not sure I need an arm moving around like that head in "The Thing" either. Have to trust that the Russos keep looking after their characters.

Meanwhile...think I'll be spending a lot of time with fabric dye over the winter getting civvie Bucky's clothes the right colors. Shame Bucky's hair will probably be attached - e.g., don't have the nerve to cut it off:horror and try rooted hair under a ball cap, unless I have extra heads. Can only admire those that are fearless with a Dremel.

lol yeah, 'chest wax' duty, totally forgot about that one. XD Maybe they needed it smooth to attach devices to monitor vital signs?

Regarding his facial hair, even if it's growing unusually slowly for a guy with such a great and thick hair, they'd still have to trim it regularly. Let him out of cryo for a mission for more than 5 days per year and you need to trim it around 70 times. XD

Well, yeah, I think they might/would do a chest wax etc. for monitoring - I mean real hospitals seem to shave areas, depending. Plus, I suppose the case could be made that Bucky's captors didn't treat him like "a person" but more like an expensive stored weapon - he was shaved, bound, force-fed, frozen and more or less straight-jacketed. (Thought it was kind of nice contrast visually, the opening of CW when we see Bucky bound and the black costume and the dark, vs. the peacefulness at the end and all the white. The Russos think of everything. :clap)

And a guy with stubble or maybe a neatly trimmed beard isn't noticeable the way a guy with a wild, untrimmed beard would be - at least in a lot of U.S. places - depending. For a while I thought it was odd that Bucky didn't have a knife or two tucked into a boot or something, but then I thought it makes sense re the character distancing himself from his past e.g. "I don't do that any more".

I didn't notice that contrast! Nice pick!! Interesting thing to note from TFA though, is that Bucky's Howling Commando jacket features a similar straps-over-the-chest aesthetic as Winter's uniform, which is interesting you mention being straight jacketed because I believe it's according to a prequel comic, Bucky was drafted to the war, not enlisted the way Steve did - so from the outset, Bucky was "trapped" as a soldier, whether it be for the US Government or Hydra.

Second bold point - interestingly enough, I believe it's in the junior novel of CW (which are usually based off early/extended drafts of the script), that mentions that when Steve goes to Bucky's apartment in Bucharest, he notices the fridge isn't plugged in - and opens it up to find it full of weaponry, hiding in plain sight :lol Bucky ain't stupid, as he said "it always ends in a fight" - he was prepared to defend himself, even if he wasn't going out to actively hurt anyone.

Just a few interesting tidbits there :lol

You can also tell that he was drafted by his service number which is 32557038, drafted soldiers were given a number starting with 3, the 2 afterwards says he's from New York. So yeah, he really never had a chance. Great ... now I'm sad again ... someone send kittens.

:
That just made my day :love:love:love

Me too.

OK, maybe, possibly, Bucky DID have a fridge full of weapons lol (thanks for that info), but folks store pans in their ovens, so just sounds PRACTICAL to me. After all, that apartment didn't look exactly UPSCALE so maybe it was a rough neighborhood.

Absolutely, it's totally practical to store weapons in your mini fridge :rotfl Eat out a lot? Use the fridge for weapons storage! You're just keeping the apartment tidy!! :rotfl

Well, I think so. Bucky looks like he's layin' low - I didn't see an IKEA or Costco sign anywhere, or even Walmart (where Bucky could get a proper gun cabinet) so makes a fridge makes sense, keeping your weapons dry and dust-free after you've cleaned and oiled them. Plus you probably have adjustable shelves for ammunition and scopes and silencers and stuff. That apartment looks so HUMBLE maybe the fridge didn't work...

Bucky's not using the fridge anyway IMO, if there's a market across the street where he can pick up plums and some croissants every day...:lol
LOL these *thoughtful meanderings* are what happens when WAITING:impatient:. But guess that's OK. Gives me more time to look the CW PO/possible PO list over $$$. And figure out if I can use soft copper tubing and wire to make the apartment staircase railings...maybe "steel" garden wire *thinking*.... Gotta keep busy between these films.

Awwww this thread - love it^^

And suddenly I have two Buckys on pre-order.
The Hot Toys...and the other ^^

Completely understandable IMO. I'll go out on a limb and admit that while the upcoming BP film will probably be awesome (and hopefully ends up w. HT releasing a fig with, like, a switch-out portrait, thanx so much) and BP deserves his own film etc. it's gonna be pretty frustrating for me if Bucky doesn't get a few serious screen minutes. Even if it's just Bucky asleep/frozen but T'Challa has installed a new arm and then you see the fingers twitch...:cool: Time to wake up, Bucky, Cap needs you...:chase

Looking at the HT release schedule, so much looks like Nov/Dec. Bucky, Bucky #2, for me PO another HT Bucky, Falcon, Dr. Strange, maybe Scarlet Witch *thinking*, order 1:6 scale weapons and extra HT pegs, work on display. Happy 1:6 scale Holidays $$$. (Really hope Rogue One doesn't end up with me wanting something $$$$:horror.)

Re: Hot Toys MMS Captain America: Civil War The Winter Soldier Collectible Figure

The shoulder and bicep of the metal arm are definitly more defined... the elbow joint and forearm seem the same but colored better... I hope they actually use chrome paint for this one. Will make me feel better for covering the arm on the TWS version.

just curious as I was digging up old posts, how did you go about removing the harness? I think I'm going to mix and match parts. I'm not really happy with the WS figure

He might have kept weapons in the fridge, as when on a mission Bucky was usually not in one place very long. He sure wasn't stocking the fridge, or buying gun cabinets. He was a highly-trained operative "behind enemy lines" for Hydra, so to speak, and he lived as such. During several Hydra missions, Bucky would go rogue for weeks or months at a time, once being found living in a NYC flophouse. He often lived VERY rough.

Hydra would have to go find him, and he wasn't easy to find at all. "The asset," they call him. "We must recover the asset."

I became super curious about Bucky's origin, which I knew the sketchy details of but wanted to flesh out. For those feeling likewise, allow me to recommend the following TPB - rather expensive but totally worth it, IMO - and you'll know all there is to know so far.

I think a lot of female fans tend to downscale Bucky's threat level, imagining that he was "scared" or that he was a frail, fragile soul. While Bucky is UNDOUBTABLY a tragic figure - just a LITTLE!! wow - he was no coward and no patsy. He absolutely meant business.

I find it most interesting that Movie Cap is this noble, gentle soul who speaks calmly and logically. Comics-version Cap is a considerably harder-edged guy - he's more like Batman. HE HAS A TEMPER which he applies liberally.

Also just checked out the Civil War TPB, which is almost nothing like we saw on screen. This is an extremely interesting book! I came out of it loathing Tony Stark. ****** YOU TONY STARK Brutus and Cassius ain't got nothing on you, you Judas! Wow. He is horrible in that. Reed Richards: no better.

Also, Punisher! Punisher is one step up from a rabid dog. Comics rarely manage to shock me! Cap ends up beating the bone marrow out of him. Nearly kills him.

Anyhoo, interesting reading. I will remark that Bucky does not feature in comics-version Civil War, tho. Too bad.... half the Marvel 616 universe is in that thing. Stark and co. are wooing Dr. Strange hard, they want to recruit him badly. Strange is like "Yeah.... no I don't think so." and rhetorically edging away slowly.
