Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Looks better than I expected and actually think it looks better than the 45, especially the shoulders. This would great next to my 42 (which I quite like). Yep definitely going to buy this.

It would be nice to have a wall outlet. But there's a reason it's not done that way. If it's an internally wired interconnected unit you pretty much lose the replacement part customer service option. And that could cost hot toys or sideshow a significant amount of money.

Doesn't have to be "wired" I think. Making parts of the joints as contact points might suffice. Making the entire joint a ground contact with a small detachable connector for positive. The body will contain all the male positive connectors while the limbs/heads can have the female ports.

Again, wires or any other method they use would require a fundamental change. They could do it like this, kinda like how the new faceplates are done. But to have that done on an entire joint is extemely tricky and will cause a pretty high amount of issues. And again, if it fails or any issues with the parts they would no longer be able to simply replace the limb. As you can not expect your customer base to be able to check which side of the circuit, or if any part, has failed. Meaning both sides would need to be replaced. Which, as I said before, would completly elimanate the modular function of the figures. No more remove and replace of a damaged arm, or hand or torso when something fails. There are multiple ways you could design it so that it works and has one switch and one power pack. But as I explained, once you do that you change the way customer service works for these figures. And the fact sideshow can send an arm or leg or new torso and anyone can fix it is a huge selling point and saves money. That would be done. that doesn even factor in the increased cost to produce and change the designs.

Hehe well there is nothing wrong about wishful thinking that eventually they'd be able to do it in a future armor.

On another topic, I posted on the Civil War Figure thread that the prototype as is seems to lack articulation in the waist/hip area. All of the photos of it kneeling were taken at weird angles suggesting to me that the hip cannot be moved as far forward or backward as figures like the XLIII.

It's still early, but I hope they'd work on that at least.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Yeah I saw that. There is no issue with it getting into the ground punch pose. Even the prototype can do it. The angles of the photo are just done to show the figure off...Ie he's not leaning all the way forward so people can see his face...but all it takes it bending the upper torso a bit and a slight rotation of the legs. It's a modded mk45 production figure used as the base for the mk46 prototype so there's not any real limitations. And every version of the standard Mk suits have been able to get into that pose. Even the original mk3.

SSC's price is absolutely absurd for what you get with this figure (which is basically nothing). Priced right out.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Isn't it about the same price the 43 was last year and this one comes with a full Tony Stark sculpt? Plus there's all those LED's. The price is where I expected it to be. There was no way it would end up at the $300 mark.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Yep. Exactly the same price. And yep, this one has an extra head.

It's cheaper then the mk45 that doesn't have the head. It's cheaper then the mk7 stealth was.

I keep looking at all the pics and damn, this just looks so good. I'm really excited to think that this will be my first HT Iron Man after holding out for so long.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

I believe that's the first time anyone has complained about the price of a figure though, so that's good....

Wonder if they can pull off a fiberoptic like setup: Like how if you put a light to a acrylic rod, it glows bright at the end......could they have a "break" at the joints, but still transfer the light. I may not be verbalizing well here. Following me?

Re: Hot Toys - MMS353 D16 - CA: Civil War - Mark XLVI Collectible Figure

Yeah I get what your saying. It's good idea...but I'm not sure how well it would work.

Just an FYI-there will be an exclusive of this at some shows. Like the Cap. But it's not getting another mms or anything. It's just you get a pillow or pillow set for ordering at the show. Just a freebie for full pay at the shows.

I never thought to ask. But I think they are normal people size...

They have hulk and hulk buster images on them so doubt they would work in that scene

I really hope they make a 1/4 scale version of this, all fresh and shiny with no damage, it looks superb.
