Well, maybe I'll pick this one up, then!
We can compare notes in summer when the movie is done and HT have announced their figures. You can thank me then
Well, maybe I'll pick this one up, then!
My damn Hot Toys DX Star Lord came with a broken knee joint. Its just flopping around. I packed it right back up and contacted Sideshow.
After over 30 of these figures purchased I guess I was "due" for an issue. So disappointing.
*sigh* SS wants me to take pictures and videos before authorizing a return/exchange. I told them this thing is broken and about to fall off already I'm not comfortable unpacking the thing again and redoing the entire situation with the risk of breaking it.
Over 32 orders with them and never had a problem save for a box issue... now it's difficult to do this.
But if I wanted to return it for a refund then they wouldn't have issue.
I understand that- but I am not going through trying to get the pants off and such to do all that. I paid near $275 for this- I shouldn't have to repair it.
Lets be clear chief- it isn't "complaining" when I paid as much as I did for this.
This is like me saying you're complaining when you get served a burger that isn't put together when it comes out. Because guess what?
That isn't what you paid for.
If nothing else is wrong with the figure, I would take the knee joint. You never know the replacement could be worse than what you have now.
Of course if you buy something it should not arrive broken. But replacing the knee joint is pretty easy, you might need some needle-nose pliers to pry it loose. Sometime they glue it in the upper leg.
I'm not sure if they say it beforehand, but to be fair, the "show us the damage and we'll send you a replacement for that one piece" has been Sideshow's standard procedure for a long time.
It makes sense to me...you can imagine that HT gives them a batch of figures that they cannibalize for replacement parts. If you need a knee joint, another person an arm, and a third an accessory, that's three happy customers with only one figure lost. Seems like a good practice to me.
Not to mention, as centrocal stated, it's an easy-ish fix and you'll know that the rest of your parts are ok. It's a gamble if you send the whole thing back.
This is not to say you shouldn't be upset. You should. Just that it's not surprising that this is the course of action they're taking.
Whats that mean? I am perfectly capable of performing the actions- very well versed. I just think the request for additional evidence is absurd.
Well i would be curious just to see what is broken. i like to examine all my new figures to see how they are constructed. Its a common break. But its not a part you can buy separately. So they need to send it to you.
