Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

That armor doesn't exist even in this already fictional sense, Hot Toys would have to invent the entire back half of it from scratch

Most of what concept art is is recoloring existing assets and tweaking lines in photoshop to spitball ideas dozens if not hundreds of times, considering this one colorway that could have been applied to any armor outline as sacrosanct only in its presented illustrated form is a bit much to expect

Cap was pretty easy as his uniform shape and abs is the same as existing outfits dyed black with some rubber detailing on it to hide the star area, shoulders, and lose the kneepads. Paint the existing helmet, boots, harness, belt, and shields black and silver and its done. A few orders of magnitude less engineering than producing a novel Iron Man armor from one drawing

I don't really see the point of saying a repaint is acceptable when they released a bunch of the IM3 house party armors. They took their time on those so why not for something that is considered a 10 year anniversary celebration release which I think doesn't make it less important of a release?

BTW, I'll take that black and gold as well, thank you.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

This one just seems phoned in, compared to the Captain America… I get with it being diecast that they
wanted to re-use parts, but this does not match the concept art (especially the helmet).

Sorry, for the $350 - $400 price tag… not happening.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

It seems like they could easily change the chest piece and helmet. I think that would go a long way towards making it more like the concept art.

The more I catch this one in SDCC photo compilations, the more I realize I need it in my collection.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

So is this all die cast or only parts? If so will the crotch section be rubber or die cast?

I have an MK IV and the crotch and hands have paint that is fading in color. Im guessing its because of the rubber material?

No diecast figure is 100% diecast. Hot toys seems to use 30% diecast. However they now use, and have for years, a hard plastic crotch section which gets rid of that problem.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

I have yet to pick up an Iron Man to complete my Avengers team. If this one isn't outrageously priced like the Mark L and DC Mark VII, this might be the one for me. Otherwise, I'll probably just get the Mark L if it is close enough.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

Thanks Motuxmen. Been hard to find a lot of good shots on this guy. I know the concept art shows the AOU design, but I really prefer the CW design with the different color scheme much better. I hope he goes up for PO this week so that I can decide if I want my first IM to be this or the Mark L.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

That's the one thing I don't like either. Easy to swap with a 46/47 helmet though.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

I’m so glad that people have noticed that this figure is NOT in any “released” concept art and doesn’t match the one one it’s supposed to be based on. When I saw the figure announcement, I swore I saw it somewhere and went searching through all my “Art Of” books and did not find a 46/47 with that paint scheme.

This is absolutely lazy and a total cash grab on HT part because they know the 46/47 sold well.

Still buying it though :lol

HT did the same kinda BS with the Arkham Knight "Futura Knight" batman... It was just a black/red repaint of the regular bats, but it was "based" on an alternate skin in the game instead of making a new figure. I agree it's lazy, but I still think this Iron Man looks great with that colorway.

Re: Hot Toys - MMS - Iron Man Mark XLVI (10th Anniversary Concept Art Version)

I’m fine with repaints because I can be more selective on what I want (or so I like to think.) And it’s low hanging fruit for them to make money off of suckers (usually like me)

That way they can use their earnings on keeping the price of other figures down like the other new Iron Ma.............
