I don't get what you mean by things being dumbed down. Marvel movies having been full on and doing wacky unrealistic comic booky things since 2000.

Genetic spiders giving people powers, alien liquids from outer space, mutants shooting laser beams out of their eyes, men with flaming skulls who somehow get their skin and hair back overnight, scientists transforming into big creatures, machines that can track every mutants on the planet ect...

As for IM3 i haven't seen it and don't know all the spoilers, but if it does something that isn't in play with events or tech that happened in a Thor or Hulk movie it won't matter to me as long as it tells a good Iron Man story. I'll be seeing it to watch iron man and his supporting characters not iron man featuring a set amount of events and technology established in non-iron man films that must be abided by even it means potential for a great individual story is sacrificed :dunno

I've got to admit, I LOL'd Pretty hard right there.

I'll explane my comment in the spoiler box below, for those who want to avoid it.
The scriptwriter came ouot and said that he and the director felt things had gone TOO fantastical with avengers, and alien invasions and gods ( Thor, loki, etc) and wanted to get it back to a simpler feel of Tech vs tech, like the first movie. to help accomplish this, they stripped the Mandarin of his magic rings. The rings are PURELY Symbolic in the film. they have no powers, they are not technology. he simply wears them. They wanted to make Mandarin into a "war criminal likened to the current "evil boogeymen" of the real world." As such, they set out to make him into a characture people like of Bin laden, Kim Jong Un, or Saddam Hussen. By trying to make it "More grounded" like this, and actively pulling back from the fantastical, it allmost seems like a step backwards

Granted, and I'm STRESSING this, I've NOT seen it, I've only read a few things, but from what I've read, the majority of the disapointment that people are expressing stems from the aformentioned comments.

LOVED the first Iron Man.
LOVED the second.
TBQH, I've Loved every one of the MArvel studios movies. THey Dive right into the mythology of the comics, and have done an amazing job of creating a world that feels real. little cameo's of sheild butting in and being a pain in the *** to Stark. Cap's prototype sheild in his workshop in IM2, these things served to propel the story, and keep it feeling as if it's ONE story about ONE world, and the characters in it. Rather than Each film existing in a sequestered bubble universe.

you could even set it up like this.

Episode I: Iron Man
Episode II: Hulk
Episode III: Iron Man 2
EPISODE IV: Thor
Episode V: First Avenger
Episode VI: Avengers

so my personal desire, and that of MANY of the fans, is for "Episode VII" to Be Iron Man 3.
But what is being said is that It feels more like a side story, rather than a continuation.

Meh, I'll see it in a few weeks, and Decide then how I actualy feel.

I'm just hoping we get everything so that we can recreate this. A nice backdrop wouldn't be bad either but they probably wouldn't add that.

I get what you're saying Lerath. I too like enjoy the little little nods and cameos here and there, it's fun.

But i didn't like IM2 because Tony was a douche and it felt like a platform to launch other movies. Black Widow and Fury didn't add much. With the words Iron Man in the title i think Iron Man i don't think this is a spquasi sequel to Thors movie or Hulks movies so must fit with them 100%.

Having them exist in the same universe is cool, but i don't want constant reminders of it that hurt the actual film and character at hand, like IM2 did.

As for Iron Man 3 it'll depend on how things are when i see it. If it shows Thor being killed but then he's alive in his movie i'll find it stupid but if it's something inconsequential i won't care as long as the movie and story are good for Iron Man.

Imo let Avengers movies be about them all as a team and friends and let the solo movies be about the solo character and their supporting characters and villains.

That's how i's done in the comics. If you want Avengers read the Avengers book if you want just iron man you can read just iron man (sure there's a little bleed thorugh but the majority is them in their own stories)

:exactly::goodpost: First and foremost I want a good story and if I get that then the movie was a success. I agree IM2 suffered for the reasons you stated. The stand alone movies should focus on the respective character and the Avengers movies should focus on the team. I think if they try to tie all of them together them the stand alone movies will suffer.

You can already tell those clothes are top notch. If Loki is anything to go by, collectors should be in for a real treat.

Depending on how the Ben Kingsly headsculpt turns out (and the price and whether I like the film or not), this might be my first Iron Man figure purchase.

FINALLY! It is about time they showed us SOMETHING from Batman Returns! Woo hoo!

....Oh wait. It is another Iron Man related figure. :monkey2

Great news for folks looking forward to him... but man does HT need to get on track with some of the older stuff they've left hanging.

Sallah

Two things that would make me PO this item:

1. headsculpt - likeness to Ben Kingsley with the beard and all
2. accessories - not asking for too much but a chair and a battle damaged iron man helmet would be nice
