I know a lot of people pay the premium to have the figure first and to be the first to post pictures and a review.

I will do that with only highly coveted figures for me... like Tarkin.

But since prices have crossed the $200+ mark, I have been shopping ebay a lot more and have had great success. You old timers probably remember when I used to be one of the first always with pics and reviews because of my proximity to Sideshow but those days are long gone now. I rarely get a figure first. But this also helps keep my collection in check better. Sometimes if I wait long enough for a price drop I come to realize I don't even want the figure anymore... like Ultron Mark 1... I waited for it to go down to $160... and it did, but now I don't even want it at that price.

I've been doing that for the past year or two. It's difficult in the beginning when everyone's getting their figure and there's all that excitement and frenzy in the air. But if you can just hold out for another couple of months, you will either find a good deal for it, or feel that you don't need the figure after all.

Yeah, I'm still new to this 1:6 game, entered the fray when they were all $200 plus for the most part (leading up to the Hoth Luke/Han figures). I've managed to pre-order nearly every figure from Sideshow with at least one of their $20 codes so I feel like I've been at least thrifty/non-impulsive in that regard since you had to wait a couple months, but I think the fast-fading interest in some of the TFA figures (mainly the troopers) and just seeing the oversaturation of SW figures in general (and falling prices on many) made me realize some patience needs to be injected all around.

That said, the figures I have waited a bit on were still the ones I ended up not that interested in and either not buying, or bought and ultimately sold off. As long as I get a decent deal I'm not too worried about losing money and it's fun to check out figures you wouldn't have purchased at full price even if you do move on from it. Got to check out the awesome Shoretrooper with a 20% off sale at PopCultcha and probably sold it off a few months later for roughly the same price I got it for.

Exactly. Its the smart move.

I have a closet full of not smart moves based on early frenzy excitement. :lol

:lol

:goodpost: You don't know how many times this has happened to me. :lecture

Yeah, it's easy to get carried away with this hobby if you let yourself. I try to be somewhat picky and not venture too far from my main collections of characters (mainly Batman, Star Wars, and Terminator 1 and 2 stuff). At one point I'd buy things just because they were a good deal but I avoid that now unless it's something I really want. I don't have too many figures I'd really want to get rid of though so I think I've restrained myself mostly. There are a few that could go but overall I like my collection.

They aren't bad figures or characters but if I were to get rid of some I'd probably sell a couple random MCU figures and maybe my Man of Steel figures (I'd maybe keep Superman for the Trinity but I'd probably get rid of Jor-El and Zod).

I got an email from Sideshow that R2-D2 will be charging on Thursday September 7. Gonna be great to finally have an R2 to go with all my Star Wars figures.

Lot of stuff coming this month...

I have R2, K2, TFA Luke, and 2 DS Gunners all coming about the same time from bbts.

If I am just a little patient the total shipping cost will be $4 for 5 figures. Sideshow would have cost me $125.
