You forgot about the sphero, which actually has R2'd personality.

Too much analysis, guys, get the one you like and enjoy. Get them all, get a few.

I bought the HT version and I love it. Just don't leave the batteries on. :)

you are right! both things haha

GG,

Does the Sphero work really well? I was thinking of getting one too. Would look super cool going down the Death Star Hallway.

Parrasmaniac,

Lol! I will bet they got the electronics backwards and did the projector first, instead of the blinking lights. Why just have the projector on? That's weird, but I'll wager it wasn't supposed to be like that.

Couple more R2 shots.

That's a good looking Droid, TonTon.

Did you rub the weathering off on his dome or did it come like that? Almost looks intentionally done in a rectangular pattern.

Oh yeah, I see what you mean. Came like that. The other side looks like it mostly goes all the way but it's still uneven enough to look natural. I like the nice grungy weathering and then the perfect shiny blue paint. :lol

OH yeah will. you would have loads of fun with him. he can even watch the movies with you and he get emotional certain parts of the movie. get one you would be glad you did.

looks sweet solo. have to take a photo with my sphero and a jawa to see how they look together scale wise.

Yeah, I'll bet your Jawas will be a better scale match.

That is a great picture. But R2 looks very small or that jawa looks very large.

Didn't like 4 of them carry R2 on their shoulders?

My Jawa is on the larger side, but it's also a slim R2 pose. Here's another.

I owned the SS r2 for years and sold it just recently. In my opinion this is far superior to the SS. The seeems in the dome of the SS lkilled it for me plus it looked so plastic on my shelf as opposed to realistic. As stated before i think by ton ton the metal dome makes a huge difference, the sheen alone and reflection it gives off adds to the realism. I like the click joints to as it allows for the three legged look to be spot on instead of trying to find the happy medium on the SS version. However i did not use any of the SS extra again cause the lack of realism on the glass etc.. didn't do it for me. Just my two cents on the hot toys r2.

There's one other con worth mentioning with this figure, and it's built into a pro. The ratchet joints on the legs help for stability (pro), but the way they're positioned when R2 has his third leg down, make it so that for me the legs are either too close to the body, or too far apart (con). It's minor, but the ratchet joint might prevent you from achieving what you feel is the correct/optimal angle for the legs.

@Enzo, was just a coincidence that my comment about the legs came after yours, didn't even see yours! :lol

I just placed my order for Ripley and with Blitzway Ray & Peter in the que it does not seem R2 is in the budget. I don't want to pass but if I was given a choice out of the four I would say R2 :(

Nice pic Solo. In your opinion is this worth getting? I have the SS Version and have the Tamashi on order, but I'm getting 1/6 itchy feet and need to order something :)

I'd hate to encourage you to spend twice, since you're buying the Tamashi, but this is the one I've been waiting for. For me the metal dome sells it as a high quality mini R2. The weathering is oxidized looking with hints of rust, it just looks good. I purchased the Rythym R2 action alarm clock and so when the Sideshow R2 came out it seemed like a more precise version of a plastic toy. This HT version looks like a high quality collectible and it brings out the best in my other figures, particularly my Stormtroopres with the 3D printed ANH helmets.

So my recommendation is if you don't mind spending twice definitely pick this up. I suppose they will make another down the road but I've been waiting on this a long time and I'm completely satisfied. None of the downsides are real downsides for me. I never liked the third leg pose so I rarely use it. I might pick up the Sphyro just because I'd like to see it move around on my dio's.

I'd look into if you got a misaligned one then because compared to all other R2's I've ever owned, this is the first one that has ever nailed his three leg stance. His feet on the side legs have to be positioned at their most extreme forward angle & it'll achieve the perfect R2 rolling stance. 6V4A0370-HDR.jpg
