Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

well if i remember correctly, that's the story of manic killer monorail train Blaine Mono in Stephen King's Dark Tower...
Blaine was also foreshadowed by the book, Charlie the Choo-Choo, where Charlie was a seemingly friendly train but had a smile that "couldn't be trusted."

Nice stuff, Sidious. Do you have the regular Robo too?

EDIT Never mind, I saw it in the other thread.

One failing of this set belongs to the Alex Murphy figure - those damn trigger hands. They are awful for holding those tiny handguns. Otherwise top notch.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I agree. Good pistol holding hands are rare. They never fit snug enough.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

The hands are good on them? It's good Matrix is, since he's so firearm heavy. I still need to pick that up.

HT has this weird facination of making everyone look like they just got back from vacationing in South America.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

The John Matrix is a larger Arnie sized hand, the Han Solo one is a more average size. The former ridiculously tanned (as such useless for the purpose I bought it), the latter less tanned but still darker than most other figures.

Won this today, paid in full. Seller just issued a refund saying he thought it would sell for more than 56 bucks.
Is this ok to do? Ebay seemed fine with it. I was pissed, I mean list it for higher or put a reserve, don't take my money and then refund it because you are not happy with the selling price.
Anyway, rant over.

Wish I could, I didn't even know he did it until I got an eBay message telling me the seller issued a refund, end of story.

I'd bet they didn't cancel the transaction and just refunded the payment through PayPal, meaning he's still being charged the 10% sellers fee. eBay is always a hassle, to cancel a transaction you have to initiate and have the buyer agree to it before they will remove the fee. Maybe he/she just thought it as a $6 loss. Either way, that's real crappy for you.

You will know it cost him more than that. It would have been a great deal, but he would have been taking a big loss. You know that. You got your refund, so it was only the time you spent putting the bid in that was wasted. You'll get another one. And never for that price. No rules have been broken. The guy was probably trying to offset the price of the set so he could get Alex Murphy for a decent price. Adn for that price, Murphy would have cost him a packet.
I got one a bit back from a figures parter that was the full figure loose minus the flexible hands for $199. It was the body with fists and the head. And as the head seems to go for $140 on it's own, i thought the price was fair. So you got your refund. Don't harass the seller. Forget him and move on.
Don't be that guy.

Cheers and yes HT trigger hands sure do suck.

what about the auction rules?...
"hi guys, i'm starting my auction, but if i don't like the winning price, auction is cancelled".

Agreed. Tough luck, it didn't go as high as he wanted. But that's the risk you take with an auction. It'll either go high or it won't.

Now, if I were Brian I'd back out anyway and half-consider it a dodged bullet.

He is a seller form China who parts out Hot Toys. I don't think he is a collector either way, I didn't say anything to him. Just ranted a bit here.
Thanks.

Give him negative feedback.

Most of the Asian sellers on eBay have been total crooks. Anyone see that most of them are making their listings private so they can shill bid the hell out of their auctions without anyone seeing? It's getting worse. None of them will let the parted out pieces go for anything under what they consider a profit, which is exactly why this guy refunded you and pulled the body you won out from under your nose.

eBay is a joke now.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

It kinda defeats the appeal of auction from the buyer POV - the idea that you might get it cheap if you end up being the only bidder or one of very few bidders. Seems like the sellers want to have their cake and eat it. They want to lure people in with low starting bid auctions but they basically want what they would have put as the BIN price anyway - if they don't get that, they cancel. Not all the time but that's what has happened in #Brian's case here.
