Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Unfortunately, rightly or wrongly, all that tells Hot Toys is that people don't want this stuff. Releases such as this will become fewer and further between and perhaps be phased out completely.

THIS! It's a real balancing act. I want more HT RoboCop, but I want this for cheap. Decisions, decisions...

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

love the figure so much I couldnt resist to spend a night with it.

In the morning it was in the BD mode.

I am one of those paying full price, mainly because here in Spain there are not many deals and if I want it and secure it, I have to preorder from national/local retailers. Dont take risks ordering overseas, bg boxes are stopped by customs.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

You cant' be a true fan of the original Robocop and not pick this set up.

This could very well be the last of the Robo '87 goodies but if HT were to see that this line made them a lot of dough then they may release a few extra characters for us. Even if this was just a Alex Murphy release I would still have picked it up. Problem being if HT does decide to continue the line but realises that there is only a limited fan base then I'm afraid that probably means even higher prices for us.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Fortunately for hot toys, I think I'm in the minority
When I initially got into the hobby, I paid full price for everything and didn't mind it one bit as I needed to get it asap
That desire is real and not going anywhere in the community, IMO
I have built my collection to my desires, now it's just adding sparely and only to top characters that I like
So I am willing to wait a bit on this one(and with the commando figure I want)
I think hot toys covers their overhead with enough figures being bought at full price, which is evident by all the new releases/lines

I agree. The problem with collecting in general is the more you get the more you want. One thing comes out and you convince yourself you'll be happy with this one item when you get it then another holy grail figure appears and you go through the whole process of convincing yourself ' just one more'. In fact I think the best thing to do is to have a list of main movie characters you want and leave the rest out. For example I really want the hulkbuster from hot toys but is it a grail figure I've always wanted? Nope just love the look and presence of it. So maybe I should skip it. I never even heard of it before avengers was released and then suddenly i want it just because. Lol its that process of I want I want then i'll be happy starting all over again.

The Robocop/ murphy and commando figures on the other hand are definitely figures I will get. For me the following are my remaining grail figures I'd like to get:

- Ghostbusters figures(top want)
- Die hard figures ( Comon ht just do it!)
- Aliens colonial marines version 2.0
- Terminator 1 figures
- Jaws figures
- Robocop 2 Cain

after that I think id just say I'm out regardless of what they release because to be honest I think it would just turn into a never ending cycle of want.

I think in few sentences you explained a lot . that's reason why me and brother will never buy one iron man or marvel, cose its neverending circle .

I will just stick to figures that I grow up , like terminator(anything related with arnuld actually), predator, batman 1989/begins, back to the future, Robocop , ghostbusters ( if ever release) , mad max(if ever release, imagine max rockatansky, Lord Humongous , wez and other characters from mad max would be sick ) and so on.

my point of collecting is to stick with one theme/concept and not to focus on quantity , but on quality ( like building good backgrounds/dioramas , having enough space for figures to display and so on ).

cheers

ps. will going to arrange payment plan with my dealer for this great pack , its a must !

The original 4 Ghostbusters are also at the top of my "please make" list. So many good childhood memories from that film; they'd be awesome to add to the collection. Unfortunately, I'm not sure the new Ghostbusters III will muster enough excitement for HT to make the original Ghostbusters. Not trying to sound sexist, but without Bill Murray, GBIII's all female cast is already a bust in my eyes.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I yeah I definately am a picky buyer. This was a no brainer for me. Robocop '87 has been on my top 5 fav movies list since I first saw it. I loved the clean Diecast release. Having the battle damaged version with Weller's face and the fully human Alex Murphy will really top off my Robo collection (have Ed 209 of course).
RoboCain would also be a definite buy for me. Definite! I love the design of that monster. Just do not think they will get around to it. Maybe too complex or too much a risk that wouldn't sell well.

Just.f...g.release.it. :impatient:

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I hope that BD Robo doesn't scratch his stand like the regular did.

Mine is just standing up right in a display case (zero stand supporting him). Probably not the best idea but it's held its own since December, I'd be pissed if it got damaged though.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Yeah the DX-10 T-800 stand got easily scuffed so this will too. I've left a layer of the plastic bag on mine. Maybe it'll help, maybe it won't.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

my dx10 stand looks fine but yeah my robo stand is scuffed up. Well this version isnt diecast so maybe we wont have that prob with this time.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

If the stand is the exact same I'm going to Evilface for two normal stands for regular and BD Robo. The specs say that Murphy will come with a normal stand, so he'll be fine.

Custom nameplates and all that?

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Maybe, or perhaps just the printed decals on the stand :)

Just an idea at the moment. I'll decide when I have the set in hand.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I just gave up and left Robo and the DX10 to scratch the stands however they want. It's a flawed stand so I just roll with it.

I get the feeling if they do release cain it'll make its appearance at this years comic con. They've pretty much covered all that needs be covered from Robocop so the next logical step is to move to characters from the second film which they've never done before and lets face facts cain is 'the' character from Robocop 2. If this years comic con is anything like last years then we're definitely in for some surprises. The chronicle collectibles cain is also an option but its just too expensive and you can't pose it. I just think we all want to see a poseable 1/6th scale cain though.

I know its like Hollywood has to ruin every great childhood memory I have with remakes which are all useless. First Robocop now this drivel. An all female cast? Really? Not even 1 man? The ghostbusters are supposed to be men not women and that just turns the whole franchise into a joke to be honest. I can just see the execs sitting round the table ' hey i know lets get a bunch of hot chicks and put some proton packs on them....that'll sell well won't it...I mean people are stupid enough to watch a Robocop remake so why not this '

Wake me up when the nightmare is over. In the mean time i'll stick with the classics.

Aye, 2014 Comic con will be one to remember. I doubt that they'd do Cain, but it'd be cool if they did. I just really, really hope we get a Boddicker.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Cain would be amazing. But yeah I have doubts. I think technically it would be one of the hardest figures Hot Toys could attempt

ImageUploadedByTapatalk1432430831.368218.jpg

I mean look at the detail and complexity and balancing it with the weight of the upper body. I'd love it, honest, I'd buy it in a heart beat. And would ideally love this big guy in DieCast. But I think the fact it is such a technical challenge and a bit of a risk from a sales point of view, I have my doubts we see this anytime soon.

But here's hoping. (And that we see release pics of B/D Robo + Murph soon)
