Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

Personal story (and I wrote this long ago as well).

When I was young my teaches asked me what I wanted to be. I said I wanted to be a cop in Detroit that got murdered and was remade into Robocop hahaha. Also my mom's maiden name is Murphy and I always felt a family sense of pride with the character and especially the last lines of the movie.
"Nice shooting son...what's your name?" -old man

"Murphy." -Robomurphy

Anyways. Just explaining how much these figures mean to me. It's more than collecting with Robocop. And the reveal made me want to cry that's how great they are.

Big mistake. Your shelf will never look like this.

Everyone is different I guess. For me the impact of one Robocop in my collection is greater than diluting with three. I never had a want/desire for a Murphy figure and Robocop (clean) which I have seen several times in store still does nothing for me. Like I said...."Everyone is different I guess". :duff

Budget Stark just released a very interesting video.

He states that this figure is of such low demand in Asia so that they released both figure variants on the same day.
For example the Mk42 was released over a timespan if like eight weeks.

Other figures that were release all on 1 day:

Stormtroopers
Ichabod Crane
Gamora
Batman Arkham
Groot and Rocket
Marty McFly

The fan base for those lines are just very small in HK as what UK/ USA deem to be classics like Star Wars, Back To The Future, Robocop just don't have the appeal in Asia.

Just like Asian countries eat a lot of rice, USA and UK not as much, just preferences at the end of the day.

I wonder why... not Mech-like enough???

Americans love French fries!

Can't believe parents feed that **** to their kids. Anyway, I'm really having a problem not ordering this right now. I feel like I don't want to wait....

Guess this picture confirms that you can put the BD Murphy sculpt on the clean Robo.

I'd be more curious if you can put the BD helmet head onto the full BD body to create the post ED-209/post police firing squad/pre helmet removal version of Robocop :lol

Though there is the problem of the black 'collar' part of the suit which mysteriously disappears when he takes his helmet off.

Da fuq??

At first I was like, "what is going on, a brain transplant", "why is Gordon there"? Then I remembered the reboot movie. When Batman Returns Batman comes out, I guess we can have Raymond Sellars there too.

I'm sure that's possible. Same body, same socket. The regulars head pops off with ease.

Other than the wrong paint job and maybe his Ford Taurus, the character is pretty complete. Between the three releases, Murphy is perfectly well rounded.

Unless someone wants this,

Yeah, the iconic Murphy in bad shirt scene!

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

He always reminded me of pre-super soldier serum Steve Rogers in that scene. Small, lanky body, no shoulders and a massive noggin.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

In all seriousness tho, the 80's fashion in RoboCop holds up very well.

That is one bad ass man right there. Takes guts to wear something like that.

Am I the only idiot around here that feels like waiting for a discount is the right thing to do? This thing looks fantastic, I haven't been ordering many figures lately tbh, so that even if there's a huge markdown later down the road ( as in, robochair) I won't feel all that bad. I mean, it would suck a little.

gah....

Nope. I waited on Robo and got him with the chair for about $290 shipped. Wait this one out if you can. You can probably snag the bundle up on a discount down the road.

Re: Hot Toys "RoboCop (Battle Damaged Ver) & Alex Murphy Collectible Figures Set

I'm not waiting for any discounts personally. Mainly because this is too much awesome and I'm already going to end up waiting an age for it.

But also because sales in the UK are redundant. UK sellers only ever get the stock they need and then STOP re-stocking (in my limited experience at least), Sideshow sales + shipping + potential import = v.little saving.

I'd rather have it, pay for it and forget about it.

the time of reckoning is on me, cancel the preorder, eat the $45 nrd, then wait to get it about $130 cheaper in a few months?(net is about $85-90)
For all the big talk I was doing, I'm keeping my preorder(which is the last preorder I will ever do)

Not sure how I'm going to fit all my robo stuff on a single cabinet space

No, I'm waiting.

I don't need this right now. I waited 8 months, I can wait another 4-5-6 when it gets discounted. The past 6 Hot Toys releases I've bought "day 1" have been marked down/had for significantly less. In all instances, I felt like crap and had spending remorse after the fact. I'm not going to be a chump for a 7th time. Waiting will just build anticipation, I'll get it when I get it. Owning it at a later date isn't going to make it any less awesome, and hey, I'll get it for less as a bonus steal.
