Ahoy!

As much as I love this figure, I've always had a bit of an issue with the robe and tunic. The material is luxurious to the touch but the drape and cut (especially the cape) is a bit awkward... long in the front and far too short in the back. Here, I've removed the plastic chain from the SSC deluxe Vader cape and simply clasped the two metal hooks. The chunkiness of the collar stitching and the hooks fit nicely in the shoulder armor recess and are hidden by the neck. The figure feels much more ANH to me this way... As much flak that SS gets for its Vader(some very much deserved), I've always liked the drape of the Deluxe Cape and tunic (well, maybe not the collar stitching, but that can be finessed..).

Cheers,
Ahab

Ahoy!

Another test with the SS Deluxe cape and tunic. I'm not sure it really translates all that well in pictures, but (visually) in hand I like it more than the stock fabrics.

Yeah, not sure. I have both cape sets now and the SSC cape set is better than the HT ANH set, but the HT RO cape set drapes so realistically and looks incredible. I've seen pretty much all the 1/6 Vader cape sets in-hand now and I think I like the RO set best. It's the only one that to my eye looks like the real robes in the way it drapes. The one thing though is how HEAVY the HT RO fabric is - it's like 1 lb for the set.:lol

I'm just hoping by the time the ESB Vader comes along, they address the cut of the cape so the length is uniform. That's the only thing that bugs me with the RO.

Hey all,

I took some clear shots of Vader from RO to give you some idea's for posing Vader - I'm going to try and use some of these for future re-posing!!

Awesome scene, but does it not bug anyone else that his belt boxes were not lit up. Yes the pitch black reveal was ominous, but come on...

He's been able to surprise other oponents. Luke, on Cloud City, most notably, by not breathing (or not letting it be heard). So this confirms he can turn off the suit lights for a stealthy entrance.

"stealth Mode " perhaps?

His chest box wasn't illuminated either.

Such an ominous scene though. You can feel the fear in that scene, especially with that guy beating on the glass of the door, yelling for help, knowing they're toast.
