Haha! That probably happens to a lot of people. I can see myself saying that too if something really DOES look more amazing then I thought it would. I hope that doesn't happen here though.

None of use thought we'd see $300 as disposable on 1/6th figures when we got into this hobby.

I come from far away times when people were outraged that Sideshow bounced the promised $50 price tag to $79 so quickly.

Oh the hong kong street price will be $269 but sideshow will jack it up 30 bucks because that's what they do. Then they will charge another $30 to ship it, which is at least $22 more than what it costs them.

. I'm just not sure if I'm a big enough Vader fan to warrant getting another $300 or more figure of him. To me the looks between the films aren't that different (yes I realize that there are differences but I don't obsess over those small details). The main selling point for me to get another would be an Anakin reveal sculpt and the severed hand. Surely those will come with the figure but I likely wouldn't display him that way most of the time and he'd either face off with Bespin or Jedi Luke. I can pretty much just swap the one I have in those displays when I want to change it up.

It's different getting multiple Luke, Leia, and Han figures since their outfits and whatnot change noticeably.

I don't think I'd bite at $300.

Depending on the difference of course, and whether the chair lights up or not, but in most cases I'd prefer to display my Emperor standing next to Vader anyway, so the chair itself creates a different display than I would prefer. But if the figure looks better seated -- or slouched -- then I might change my mind.

That chair is a space killer though.

Interesting. I think for me... if the Emp can sit in his chair in a detolf, I'll try and squeeze him with two royal guards and Vader will be with stormtroopers.

$299 is already more than I'd want to spend too. That price even kept me from buying ANH Darth Vader, a character I like way more. Though at the time I wasn't willing to go that much, but I've since gone pass $300 with Iron Man and War Machine. But there or anything higher is most likely a pass, then I'd just go with a standard version without the throne if anything. Money saved there at least.

Even at $269.99, the only problem is if I got Emperor and throne, I'd feel I'd back myself into a corner by feeling the need to get RotJ Vader as well at that point and complete the final DS showdown between Luke, Vader and Emperor, since the whole point of the throne is to serve as a prop; I'm not sure if Emperor would look good just seated on it on his own, not part of a bigger scene display. I'm not sure I even want to get another Vader and if I did, I'd probably be more inclined to want to get ESB Vader. At that point, I'd probably just pose him dueling Bespin Luke to cover a Luke-Vader lightsaber duel display and then get Emperor on his own and pose him next to RotJ Luke with the FL attachments to cover having the Emperor represented.

Both money and space saved while still covering all bases.

Off topic I have to say I think Sideshow's version of the Emperor is one of their better figures. I don't have it and wouldn't seek it out now that we know a Hot Toys version is coming but overall it seems to have held up fairly well.

You only have ONE detolf? You have serious restraint lol. I plan to have them at the same level shelf on my center two detolfs. Emp on left, Vader on right. Just crossing my fingers the throne will fit and leave enough room for the guards to be present. Otherwise they may either need to kinda stand behind the throne or way up front with emp in the back in the throne.

I have the sideshow emperor and made some upgrades to him like redoing his brows and a body swap. looks better then he did I think.

Think this will be the same as Hot Toy's Space Captain Harlock figure. $249.99 for the figure on it's own or $419.99 with throne. That's a couple of years ago and the throne had no light function. Thanos was also $419.99 which included a throne.

Precedent is set (twice). Start your saving now.

I'm currently leaning towards passing on a throne, regardless of price, and going for Emperor only.

SS charged 160 for the hoth heavy cannon yet a lighted 1/6 throne is bigger and has more features. Id be surprised if there is a two pack and really surprised if the chair isn't at least 160...

Regarding Thanos, look how big that figure is. The price was high because it was an overall huge piece.
