Alright, I'm confused. A couple of hours ago, wasn't this in the customs side of the board?

There is a different thread for Royal Guards in the custom section. I was following that too. I don't think they've updated since this HT reveal.

I hope the custom one moves forward because I think their helmet looks better and the price they were aiming for is going to be lower than HT.

Am I the only one who doesn't need the Emperor to go with these guys? I've loved them since I was a child and I'm on the fence about the Emperor right now. I think this figure would look fine with RO Vader seeing as they guarded him in the movie.

Since they are guarding the Emperor and his Inner Circle alone they are kind of pointless.

If you have bathtub version of RO Vader, then ok. They did not need to guard him when he wasn't naked :D

Well, to be honest it's a little odd on both counts - that other than the steam/fogged glass, Vader appears to be buck-naked in the tank right in front of the Royal Guards, who are facing him...

And the idea that Vader needs to be guarded at all is sort of funny - like if he's on the can or in the shower his force powers are like false teeth left in a glass by the bed and unable to be used.

:lol

Yeah but did the emperor really need to be guarded?

He wasn't so much "guarded," they were more like his mostly-ceremonial doormen/gatekeepers/escorts - in the cut scene they did deny Vader entry though. They stood at the elevators inside the throne room and also outside. And they were there when Luke was brought in, as he probably did present a danger to Emps - though Emps dismisses them.

And you could argue that (forgetting the PT) the aged Emp in ROTJ is only able to nearly kill Luke with a slightly recovered Vader right next to him, and after a somewhat exhausted Luke had battled Vader. Not sure how things would have played out if Vader wasn't there at the start.

I just think RO Vader all nudie in front of the guards is pretty funny. I mean do they pass him a towel? Why are they there INSIDE the "shower stall" as it were, instead of outside where the servant guy enters. Bit of an odd choice is all.:dunno

They could just be perverts with an amputee fetish...

With the discreetly placed sheet, it kinda looks like Bane modelling for a nude figure drawing class.

I'll probably get both but if I had to choose I would get these guys. I could always pretend they were Fremen.

Maybe after he lost Padme (I know, I know, Prequels... :p) Vader became a little perv :lol

Maybe Vader is worried that Palpatine or obi wan could try to kill him and those are his lookout?

More likely they are human shields. Just to buy him or Emperor some time to get on feet and start the living hell.

I have always thought of them as being there to essentially swat away nuisances so Vader and Palpatine don't have to get their hands dirty themselves unless it is really called for. If Vader had to force choke everyone who wandered into his chambers unannounced he wouldn't have any time to relax and unwind in the Bacta tank.

For me they are indissociable from the emperor because of cult scene as the arrival on the second star of death.:wink1:
