Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Stop yer _____in' my quote to B.C. Canada on the West Coast was $24 + I have to pay import tax and FED-EX B.S. $10 handling fee. This will cost me $275-285 by all is said and done...

still gonna have me my Capt'n Rogers by the end of July :yess:

My first order from sideshow with fedex shipping I only got charged 5% tax and a 'ROD Fee'.
And apparently you can avoid the RODfee if you have open a fedex account and link your credit card to it. I have one already, except I forgot to update my address, we'll see if I avoid the 'ROD fee' this time around.

Finally caved and decided to cancel Rescue Cap in favor of the Batpod :( Would have gotten both in an ideal world..

Congrats to those of you who'll be receiving this awesome figure in your homes!

Try living in Australia...I'm at the point that I just forgot postage charges...it's just a given and normally between 40-70 USD.

If you can only get one of those, you couldn't have a made the wrong decision. Both I believe to be awesome additions to any collection. I have had to pass on several of the Avengers in order to get items like this, Bat Pod and Suckerpunch Babydoll. With December loading up like appears to be, thank goodness for flex pay too to spread it out a bit. :panic:

Yeah..i figure this will be my last chance to get one of Bat's vehicles from the Nolan verse..plus the little difference in prices and the fact I alrd have a memoribilia from the CA:TFA movie proved to be the tie-breaker.

Im sorry that you have to pay so much, but I'm pretty sure you had ready expected to pay all those extra fees since you are outside the US, yes? I'm just saying that I doesn't make much sense to me why the shippig for this was so much for me when bigger things have shipped for less from SSC and local retailers. If your shipping and extra fees went up than more than their norm, you wouldn't question it either? :huh

Is it that much more? AlterEgo is charging a $14.99 and has been since I think, the beginning of the year.

The only time I've gotten $15 for shipping from AE was for DX Sparrow. Sweeny was only about $10 for me and he was in a pretty big brown shipped not to mention the big packed out box that came with it. For some it's just $5 but when places like goHastings only charge me $6 for packed out shipping on HT and SS figures its odd for me to get a shipping quote of $15. I'm one of those that's slowly being priced out so every little bit that can be saved on these would be nice

I think Rescue Cap may have been the way to go. Not that its a super rare, super limited item, but it will eventually be harder to get that the Batpod. And if you are ever in a position to have both, the Batpod will probably be easier to get in the secondary market. IMO at least. And based on previous Marvel/DC SDCC exclusives. But ultimately, its a personal decision.

Are you sure you got charged? I got an email yesterday stating they will start charging these on 7/20.

I chose flex pay and was charged $110 on July 5. The balance is scheduled to charge Aug 5. Of if this is available for shipping for Aug 5, which it looks like it may be, I will call and get the balance immediately charge so it ships asap. I am far to impatient to NOT get something knowing I can.:slap

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

I cancelled.. can't bring my self to pay $220 + shipping for this fig.

Oh well.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Most of those early figures were in the $12.99 range for shipping. Superman was $14.99 for me. Black suit Spiderman and Red Skull were $14.99. I had several orders for Sweeney so I can't tell the price.

Yeah, I factored that aspect in but at the end of the day, the Batpod will have a much greater presence for my collection and that is currently what my collection needs badly - a centerpiece. And that was ultimately why I decided to go with the Batpod. But I'll agree with you though, had this piece cost maybe $10-20 less overall (after taxes and shipping), I may have gotten Rescue Cap after all just because it's an SDCC exclusive. Alas, it wasn't meant to be :(

With regards to shipping prices, I think what was weird about SS's quote is the fact that they are charging $15 for shipping the figure using only the brown shipper, whereas with other retailers who charge similar shipping fees (AlterEgo or BBTS), you're getting the entire package shipped out in a bigger carton box (aka "packed out"). Imo, based on SS's shipping estimate, it should have cost less than $10 to ship a 3lbs package, which was not the case with the Rescue Cap.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

tdk5... good reasoning! I thought.. at the end of the day.. he will be pushed back on my shelf and if i wasn't going to make him a stand alone peice or a capt display then I can find better usage for the funds.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Same here. I was going to get this, Avengers Cap and Red Skull to go with my TFA Cap, and then I made the mistake of adding it all up. Ouch. Im trying to finish off my collection, not start a new one. :lol

I cancelled.. can't bring my self to pay $220 + shipping for this fig.

Re: Hot Toys – SDCC 2012 Ex - Captain America TFA: Captain America Rescue Version

Although if I had the money, and the space, I would get this Cap AND the Tumbler (not the Batpod)...hahaha...

You know what, you're right. I didn't read the entire email. This is actually my first purchase from SS. I've bought all of my other figures from either AE or BBTS. Jul 20 is the charge day.
