Ummmm.....lycra is a fabric and I posted above....

If you're responding to me, A) we must have posted at the same time because your post wasn't there when I made my comment, and B) I was referring to pictures of a figure made with a fabric suit that looks good.

If you ever see it out there, do post images here. Like I said, I'm not against cloth, I'm just out for a movie Spiderman that does a good job capturing the distinct look of the film costume, if cloth can come close enough, great.

Yeah, I would love to see that as well.

Did have pics saved to my drive, but deleted them and I cannot find it on eBay via the completed listings unfortunately. One sold about a month or so ago.

Suffice to say, it is done with printed fabric and it looks as close to the movie suit as I think possible at this scale.

No sculpted feet, HT, thanks. And please be a bit creative with the hands, they should all be fabric covered to match the rest of the suit, somehow.

Accessories I'm expecting:

Extra Peter Parker/Tobey Maguire head
6 pairs of interchangeable hands
bendy web strands of some sort
unique display stand developed with Spidey's abilities in mind. I want to have him displayed mid-air, and the current display stand wouldn't work well for that.

MJ red dress has my vote.

I would say lounge waitress but SM1 was much better and memorable than SM3.

Yeah, I would only buy her if I was doing to display her swining with Spidey with Goblin close by. Not sure if I would buy Venom or a SM3 MJ, would have to see em first.

IMO having an alternate parker portrait is a must. The figure is going to look bad if it's a pull over mask...

I don't imagine a pull over mask, I think either no Parker portrait at all or 2 heads.

One thing HT should do well is the cool finish to the white on the eyes of the mask, similar to the Batman sonar look just not lit.

They need to sculp the head to have that shape I seem to remember someone mentioning they had to put a material over the guys face so they could that certain face shape

so yea Im guessing non removable mask head and Parker potrait if we're lucky (probably not) we could get a cloth mask as an accesory

so he could have the whole "putting the mask on to save the day" type look

the only one I really want is this guy and Venom
venom-spiderman.jpg

maybe a extra Unvenomized head or halfvenomized

Hopefully HT includes webslinging right and lef hands, another dissappointment with the Medicom figure, having only one side.

I guess Spidey and even Venom (maybe not if it's made really good) are just for the real die hard fans of Spiderman. Cause imo, i wouldn't get excited about them because they don't come with a lot extra to pose with.
But that is just me.

What would be cool imo is this:

and in less extend this:

I'm going to say no on this. One distinct feature of the movie Spiderman suit is the textural quality, I just can't imagine anything but a rubber suit like HT's Batman's being able to capture that texture in figure form, and I don't see a point in a movie Spiderman without that texture, Medicom's Spiderman 3 figure is nice, but really, nothing makes it stand out as being from the movie, the colors are more like the comic suit, should be like a maroon and navy blue, not blue and red, and there's not texture to it.

That's be fine with me.

Jumping in at this post, so forgive me if this has been covered but I wanted to throw my 2 cents at this point. MaulFan, I don't think the character of Spider-Man needs a rubber suit - that would restrict the poseability of the character and look like crap IMO. And Mike is right the texturing can be done by silk screening. I don't know if you have a 2 in 1 Superman from HT but they got the diamond pattern in that figure via silkscreening and it looks amazing. They also got the pipping on that costume done a similar way and it looks wonderful and has a little shine to it. I'd imagine that road would be the way we would get Spidey's webbing down to have a semigloss to them.
I'm pretty sure HT can do a spandex mask but I am curious about the gloves and boots - spandex gloves and boots anyone?

I don't have Superman, so my opinon was based on owning the Medicom Spiderman 3, personal opinion on the movie suit, and experience with HT's Batman figures.

I'm not anti-cloth, I'm just pro details that make the suit stand out from a flatter, simpler, comic book look, which to me is what the Medicom SM3 figure ultimately looks like.

Just doesn't convey this

To me, I'd like something close to this

Ah. I don't have a Spider-Man reference but how about a Superman one:

See the "s" patterning? That's just silkscreened....I would guarantee that will be replicated on the Spider-Man suit...

EDIT: I see the Superman suit was already pointed out.

Looks good to me, like I said, if it can be done and look right, great, just from what I've seen on figures in my own hands and experience, the better route was sculpted rubber like Batman vs Medicom's style.

Imo a rubber suit for spiderman would fail. For one, I despise rubber anything for figures. it just is not durable enough but with some figures you have no choice, ie batman.

Going the superman suite route would be my most desired option at this point and I think it would turn out well.

I understand your point MaulFan. I too, want a movie accurate Spider-Man to have the details that need to be there. And there may be a way to do that. Perhaps HT can come up with a system where the use a lyrica/spandex suit for the red and blue and then come up with a system to use rubber for the webs. While a serious undertaking in producing that , if anyone can do that I'm sure HT can do it. It may however hike the price up just a little.
And here are some pictures to give you an idea of what I was talking about regarding the diamond pattern in the Superman figure. Pictures courtesy of Edwint from Mediworld.

Edit: looks like the Mike beat me to it.

In reality the pleather suit for the Medicom Spider-Man 3 was fail. The idea was to have the sheen and shine look to it with a bit more durability. In production it looked awkward in a lot of poses and didn't really come through. The Spider-Man 2 Medicom figure was really well done costume wise its head was so damned small. I saw someone repaint the SM3 head with the silver weblines and a slightly darker red scheme and stuck it on the Medicom SM2 figure and it looked better but the head was too big. I think that HT will have their work cut out for them but can really impress if they do their homework.
